INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well, this isn't really farm related, but I wanted to share.

As of today I'm officially enrolled at IPFW as an Ecology and Evolutionary Biology major!! Unfortunately, all the Biology and Organic Chemistry classes are full already for next semester, so I'm enrolled for Calculus (

) and first-year German with the hopes that some concentration classes will open up.

I have a mixture of nervousness and excitement going right now.

Congrats! Must say, though, that I don't envy you (although German could be fun)!

Those are cuckoo silkies! One of my favorite which I decided not to pursue breeding at this time. Cluckacres bought my cockerel from me.

Love those silkies! Pics of them just make me smile. We're going to start with non-silkies first, but are already thinking we will have to add some silkies later. Chicken math in action....

Will we need a second coop/run for them?

The tolbunt is hatching?
I am with pipd. Cockerel all the way.

Yup, the one hatched!

I have not had the best of luck with shipped eggs...that being said, I may be interested...what would you charge and how many would you send?  I wouldn't need the mixed eggs...I have some mixed marans birds laying now.

Where are your birds from, if I may ask?

I should be able to do around 9 Marans and 4 legbar to ship out Monday. I'd sell them for $20 shipped.
My Marans came from 2 people, a guy in southern Indiana and the others from Tennessee. You can see pics of my birds at www.facebook.com/aguyandhischicks

Here is a picture of the eggs (just taken tonight) to give you an idea of color.

Congratulations! EEB is a fascinating field, with a great variety of applications both academically and in the 'real world'. Good choice! Sorry so many classes that you need were already full. We have the same problem at IUB - that's one reason students sometimes have trouble finishing in four years. Taking summer courses can help, although it can be a lot of material to stuff into a short period of time. I took organic chemistry over the summer (a long time ago) and found it tough to memorize everything in just a few weeks. On the other hand, I got it over with quickly!
