Bartholomew county has about half of what was in the Lebanon Show barn I think. Johnson county sounds very similar to the fair Brad was at. and here are a few pictures I took this morning. @jchny2000 my BR rooster and half BR half CL roosters are pictured. So is the cat, the tiny male chick, and my broody I got by hatching an egg from Stonykill's farm. @Leahs Mom I'm not sure I want to keep my tiny broody so once the eggs hatch if you are interested in her, let me know.

The 2013 fair had 2 long open aired barns full of chickens and ducks were housed outside as the barns were full. We did not make it this year. There were blue sumatra chickens at Lebanon last year but not Bartholomew County. There were LOTS of heritage RIR, heritage Buffs, I think there were 7 turkeys in 2013. At Lebanon the birds are in cages on tables. at Bartholomew some of the cages were stacked with the poo catching trays keeping the lower level clean. There was a phoenix in 2013 at Bartholomew. And should I ever need heritage RIR stock in a pinch, I would be willing to start out in a new line from the chickens I saw there in 2013. There were a few game chickens at the fair but more up at Lebanon. Both places had enough of the small meaner roosters that my Dh was able to laugh at them. he thought it was funny that they would try to attack the plastic barriers and crow loudly when they were so small.
I will also say I saw better and more goats there in 2013 than what Johnson county fair had this year or last. However I'm not a goat judge but to the untrained eye the ones in the Bartholomew county fair were better. For people who can;t get up to Lebanon, Bartholomew might be a good place to get some quality stock and meet some great breeders. The show day for chickens is typically the day goats are arriving at the fair too, but no rides until much later that night and at high prices. Another great plus, being able to tell the children sorry the rides are not open yet.
