12 silkie eggs are in lockdown now! Some look like quitters, but still put them in the hatching bator. 6 more will join them in lockdown on tuesday!

If anyone is looking for a Wyandotte rooster that is good at mating, I have one I need to get rid of or make a supper out of.

came home to 4 baby chicks! All 4 hatched! One was stilla bit wet. Once that one is fuzzy, I'll move them all to the brooder :) yay for home made incubators!
 
Crafty- that's so cool!! Congrats!!

we got our bigger brooder cage done today. And about 1/2 of the chicks are now in the garage!! Yay!!! With heat lights of course. Thought it was supposed to warm up. I'm so over cold!!!
 
How long does it take for these little guys to fluff up? We've been home for 2 hours and the last one to hatch is still pretty wet. It's about 1/3 dry
I didn't really time mine drying out, but it is a long time. That being said, it may have membrane stuck to it if humidity got too low during hatching. This will make them appear wet, but really dry. You may have to give him a bath if this is the case.
