INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Quote: If I end up getting out of the BLRW, I will be considering them a lot. While I did not want a lot of white birds on the property, I can use the white rocks to get heritage sized red stars. However if I get out of the BLRW line, I will also be considering the Rhodebars as they are already auto sexing and only take 1 breed to produce. It all depends on how many pullets I get from this year's small batch of BLRW chicks I have growing out. I really like the splash BLRW pullets and wanted to be able to keep some, but I did not hatch very many this year before my only hen went broody.

I don't believe they were ever able to ship it. But...how do you legally and properly dispose of hazardous waste? Makes you wonder about why we would put it in our fields, harvest and use it for edible products... If you want a really good explanation of how and why the herb sources don't have the same resistance issues as pharmaceuticals, read these books....very good source of information and the studies done. Herbs are currently some of the only items that are successful in treating anti-biotic resistant bacteria and virus today. Also gives a good explanation of why you should reserve antibiotics and antivirals for TRUE EMERGENCY rather than "everyday use" as so many have been accustomed to. They lay out the history of the discovery and use of antibiotics, the beginning of antibiotic resistance, the reason that bacteria and virus don't become resistant to herbal antibiotics/antivirals, and the outlook for the future. Very well documented. I highly recommend reading at least the first one listed here. You will be glad you have the information to make an educated decision on how you proceed with your life and your animals. http://www.amazon.com/Herbal-Antibiotics-2nd-Edition-Drug-resistant/dp/1603429875/ref=sr_1_1/187-6385948-9314126?ie=UTF8&qid=1407505209&sr=8-1&keywords=herbal+antibiotics+buhner

Thanks for the reading recommendation. I'll definitely check it out. As an evolutionary biologist and anthropologist I'm very concerned about the evolution of drug-resistance in infectious organisms, and agree that antibiotics are way over-used both in humans and commercial animals. Antibiotics don't even work against viruses, which is what most people have when they feel sick (a cold, the flu, etc). And bacteria can transfer drug resistance genes across species, so once you've created a drug-resistant strain that resistance can quickly spread. Very scary.

He is walking around, actually pushing moms chair to the dining room. This wasn't ok but he is doing it! I take Mom over so they have dinner together every evening. We see the surgeon very soon to let him come home. Mom is missing him terribly. He walked 400 steps yesterday unassisted. The stinker sneaks past the nurse station at night. they call me

My parents are both so amazing to me. They are still like high school kids when they look at each other, its pretty amazing to see. I am thankful they have time left to be together.

That's so neat! The longest I stayed at the fair was from 8 am - 9 pm (I could stay at the fair forever but my family doesn't quite have that mentality). Haha yep the life of a teenager. People ask me how old I am and when I tell them they turn to my parents and say "oh no. You have a teenager now". And i'm like gee thanks lol.
