INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My daughter is completely hysterical. The loss of her Grandpa and one of her "babies" so close together is really hard.
Thank you for your help all.

So sorry for your losses. We lost our 1st (to hawk attack) in Nov. Likewise it was my DD who was attached. We collected some of the feathers (body was too mangled) for a burial in the spring. We have a flower garden where the dead pets go. Each gets it's own memorial perennial. That way if we ever move, we have the choice to bring the flowers along. Because the ground is frozen now, you may want to consider a cremation or feather burial. (That's if your daughter viewed Cordelia as a pet.)

Again,

You might consider sending her for an autopsy. It will give you some piece of mind and help you treat or prepare in case another chicken starts showing these same symptoms. DON'T USE PURDUE!!!! I've done them through both Purdue and the University of Missouri (Springfield I believe). It is much cheaper through the University of Missouri (Less than $50 if I remember correctly) and they turned results around very fast. Purdue was a nightmare and 3x the cost.

Just something to consider!

I said to mom (flyladyrocks) now that we lost one we have to get 1 more but if we get one more chick then she will be lonly so we have to gst 2 but what if something happens to one of them so get 3 but 3 + 8 = 11 uneven!!!!!! that can't happen? can it? so get 4 but just to make sure that they fit in get 2 more so if they don't fit in they can have their own flock but thats only 16 chickens all together and in to years they can drive!!!(1 chicken is a year) so what can hurt to get 2 more chickens? am I right?
