INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Was she low on the pecking order? That could be several different problems. And honestly, sometimes a bird has internal issues we cant see.

Ya, I think she was low on the pole. She wasn't one of my favorite hens, and I was thinking of dispatching her anyway, so not really a loss.

Wow, scary! Lucky for her you are a good chicken mom and noticed the issue.Totally agree on the first aid kit too. I usually clean it out in February so its coming time to toss out of date stuff and replenish.
I keep my first aid kit in the shed, in a small styrofoam cooler to protect it from light, temperature changes, and dust. My Oxine bottle was too tall to fit into my cooler, so I kept it next to the cooler. Last year the Oxine I had froze and busted, knocking off my first aid kit, crashing to the cement floor, the cooler fell--sideways--breaking many of the bottles within.

I haven't replaced any of my stuff since then. It's definitely on my to-do list this year. It's come in handy a number of times. Especially tweezers, poly-vi-sol without iron, and vet wrap.

hi guys i need your prayers. We wete out side making sure the chickens are in the yard and in the coop is our leg bar spred out forst we thought she was dead them we saw her breathing now we think she is sick or something jist now she flaped her wings. Have any ideas whats wrong?

That was my daughter trying to type on the phone! Our legbar Cordelia is still breathing but obviously very unwell. Earlier this morning my daughter said she was sleeping in the coop (curled up head under wing). Which she does often when it is cold. The about 30 min ago we realized the back gate was open and went out to make a headcount and she was sprawled out in the coop. She eagerly took some water mixed with vitamin drops at first but now won't take any more. She is inside on my daughters lap. Not sure what else to do.

If she doesn't make it, this will be very hard on my daughter. My FIL just died, and we are not over that yet, so another loss will be extra hard for a 10 year old! Any ideas and prayers are much appreciated!

I would recommend looking her over real good. Make sure no injuries, egg bound, parasites. Might help to get her into a warm bath in the case it is egg issue. Can she walk or try to stand at all?
