INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

First of all want to congratulate ellymayRans for getting the #2 highest rated posting today.

And I would like to add a few things to my "Chickenfest 2015" update. Actually, just one thing.

Dr. Geoff Lossie from the Purdue Animal Disease & Diagnostic Lab will be doing a presentation for us. Some of the things that he plans on covering are: An overview of AI and its current status in the US, worming, respiratory issues, general husbandry (proper bedding, surfaces to help prevent bumble foot, etc.) We plan on there being a 15 minute or so question & answer session after the presentation.

Also meant to remind everyone to get their T-shirt orders in. There are only 10 days left to place an order.

One more reason to want a time travel device. Loved those 'modern poultry houses'

I got a call for someone wanting eating eggs. He typically wants 5-6 dozen at a time. Anyone in the southern Bargersville area have too many eggs they want to part with? I'll PM his number to you or call him your number.

Me...Me.....MEEEE Just when my hens are hitting their stride, my buyers seem to be drying up. I have a dozen dozen available right now.

Came home from work today to find one of my new little cochin babes dead. She's with a broody and 5 other chicks. She looked smooshed but was very cold however not stiff yet.. ?? Hate that. It was the only one that was a different color.
The rust red one pictured here.

I have had some people ask me this and I can't seem to find the answer for them. Can you eat your chickens eggs if they have mg? Anyone know? I thought yes, but didn't want to misinform

This is my English black/lavender split Orpington, Cogburn. He is still a baby, having hatched in late August last year. I love the way he's coming along. The harsh winter shows on his comb, but I think he's going to keep it all given time. He's with one of my American lavender hens (Hinkjc line).

I can't find a CLEAR answer, but I can't see any reason why not. Mycoplasma gallisepticum is not transmissible to people. I did find a source that said that poultry carcasses are downgraded from birds with MG, which implies they are still considered edible (though probably not as a broiler, but maybe in canned form, or in pet food, etc.).
