INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Guys I'm crying here my last little Legbar chick is gone this morning

. It's my fault too! I almost brought her in last night because she was on the roost with the big girls (momma was in a nest box) DH has a fit about the birds being in the house though so I moved her into a tank with two roos close to her size. This morning she's gone!!! Not a feather or part left! I don't know what happened?!?!
what? she disappeared? possible she got out of the tank and is wandering somewhere?

Was the tank covered in a way that makes her getting out absolutely impossible? How deeply is it bedded? If she didn't get out, it is possible something happened in the night and what is left could be buried in such a way as to make it appear she is not in there. Hopefully the former is the case as that, at least, leaves hope of finding her hidden away somewhere.

I've searched high and low she's not there :( I have no idea how either. I would think if the chicks she was in with killed her there would be parts left but I don't know how anything could have climbed back out of the tank either. I guess she could have gotten out and then it got her. I just don't know!

I'm about ready to break out the poison but I really don't want dead rat stuck under my coop, which is where I think it is.

my first thought was the boys got her so I dug through all the bedding, nothing not even a feather.

What sort of area is the tank in? Is it one where you can get it fairly quiet or is there so much other activity, etc. around the area that would be harder to do? If you can make it fairly quiet, get one of the boys out and he'll start being upset and calling and then you can listen to see if you can hear even the faintest response from her to give you direction on where she might be tucked up hiding.

I found her!! I found her!! I don't know where she was but I was resetting my trap and all of a sudden she was running around outside of the run!

Thanks for listening to my drama!!

@bearbottom I wish I could borrow your cat and dog! ;) I think some permanent barn cats may be in short order around here!

LOL - you should read the rant yesterday about cats being allowed outside to "slaughter wildlife" and how ALL cats should be kept indoors rather than being allowed to go on such needless homicidal rampages............apparently cats "might kill a rodent here and there" but are "not an efficient rodent reduction tool" and take out to many other "innocent animals and songbirds".............and can almost single handedly (pawedly?) wipe out entire species.
Lol I've got fields and woods around me. I've renamed my sidewalk Death Valley only thing I don't care for is them getting the snakes. It's extra rodent control
