INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Thanks! Yes we are in the coop building process. My Husband decided it needed to be huge lol!

This is Olive. She is by herself because she injured herself. She ran into a fence last Saturday. Sunday she wouldn't walk. Monday her left foot was tucked and toes curled, Tues her left foot was better but the right foot was curled (I know weird), Wed she was on the mend, not liking to be held as much and eating like a pig. I gave her vitamins, electrolites, aspirin, drench, crumbled egg yolk and cottage cheese, could have been a vitamin deficiency, not sure but today both feet are flat again and she is walking around with just a slight limp. Must have bruised herself good.

These are my little guys. Just over a week old.

My other older ones. Thinking The light brahma is a roo, and the right hand side wyandotte is also a roo. Pretty sure the others are hens. If I have too many roos, I will give them away, as long as they don't go for meat.
Sorry for so much info. :)

I never thought I'd post one of these posts...but... anyone want to guess the breed on this kiddo? She/he was supposed to be a SFH but apparently got mixed in by mistake. The folks I got her from also had clean leg marans at the same time.

So...anyone want to try a guess?

Boy you weren't joking with how fast this thread moves!
My husband got a wild hair up and bought me chicks today. We got 8
assorted bantams from TSC. I got three light yellow with fuzzy feet, one of which caused
me to pick my first chicken but, lol 2 chipmunk striped one yellow with balck flecks and two that are reddish brown anddark brown
one looks like a chocolate bar melted on it, hubby has decided that it is a rooster. we'll see. It has brown legs everyone else has orange.
I was hoping for darker legs to try to get an easter egger, but hey i talked him into two extra so I am not complaining. He picked 2 .

Hello everyone! Its nice to see other people from Indiana on here. I'm new to chickens. Just six weeks in lol. I have 4 silver laced wyandottes. Two bantam cochins, one black, one partridge. Two bantam brahmas, one light, one buff. Two standard blue cochins, one light, one dark. They are all babies still. 5 dogs, 4 alpacas, 2 parakeets..... and a partridge in a pear tree ;-) Im in NE Indiana.
Sounds like us. 6 weeks in now, and the coop is built/inhabited but not yet painted. Painting is set for tomorrow!

I try to avoid identifying breed / sex on a bird because it usually ends up in an argument for me, but I just want to point out that black Australorps are black and yellow as chicks and would have slate legs, not white legs with a black wash over them.

Welcome kabhyper! Your coop might not seem so large when your 12 chickens grow up! Nice coop!! I was the same way about my cockerels-- I specified that each one had to go to a good home and could not be used for food. ha Of course, you never know what will happen, but I felt like they found good homes. People seem to like young roosters who aren't as aggressive as older ones, but that's just what I was told.

Leahs Mom~ I meant to mention the last time that you posted some individual photos of your Swedish Flower Hens that it was nice to see them individually. I hadn't realized how pretty and unique they are because when I've seen group photos, it's difficult to distinguish each one. I'll take the orange one. haha

Chicks in Hats~ I ran across this site and thought these were pretty funny. The photographer makes cards, magnets, jewelry, etc. from her images. There were other hats, too.
