INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Ok, so I need some opinions on this:

Maybe a week and a half ago, a barred rock rooster appeared across the street from my house. Across the street is just a barn with other buildings with farm equipment and that is where I usually see him. At first I thought the farmer had put him there, but the lives somewhere else, but he only comes to cut the grass, harvest, and so on. As far as I know, there are two different families with chickens that live near me, and one of them has a rooster but their flock is penned up. I guess the real question I'm trying to get at is should I catch the rooster or just leave him be? I went over to look at him to see what kind of condition he's in and he seems healthy. Normal poop, alert, etc. He's real timid it seems. He started walking away from me when I was about twenty feet away.

Here is a pic of him:

Indiana peeps I have a question... I am a little south of Indianapolis and am looking for a high quality soy-free organic feed? Are there any good producers around? I was considering having Scratch and Peck shipped but thought I would see if anyone had a quality source for feed locally....I have a mixed flock of 24 birds from 8 weeks to 2 years

I would ask the farmer if it's his... If not ask the other people with chickens if it's an excapee if they both say no I'd catch him... He's beautiful and I'd love some barred rocks lol free rooster is a start

Howdy bird friends! It's been a very long time since I have been on this site/thread. I have occasionally posted on the IN BYC group on FB, but I don't think too many people hang out there.

After about four years of raising birds, I finally decided on the breeds that I wanted to raise and breed long-term: Ayam Cemani, Genetic Hackle (Fly Tie), Phoenix, and Ohiki.

Following hatching season -- as we all do, I have a few too many males. As a result, I have a limited number of some beautiful birds that fall into the rare category available for sale. I have two barred and two red pyle bantam phoenix for just $15 each. These will make incredible 4-H birds. If someone wants to twist my arm, I might be persuaded to let go of one of my BBR females with a barred male so some crele chicks can be produced from the pair. :)

I have a couple of breeding projects in the works, one of them being a red fibro phoenix and have a few cockerels from the first generation cross available, as well. They will be gorgeous roosters.

My smart phone doesn't seem to want to play well with BYC, and I could only get the one photo to embed with this post. I will try to upload a red pyle and fibro phoenix photo separately.

There are a few organic places popping up and Rural king has started carrying a line of organic feed. Hopefully someone can direct you, please remember to post back and share your findings!

I agree, ask around and if no one claims him, I would sure take him in. I adore roosters tho, and am bad about taking too many lol.

good to see you! Loved the pics, the red pyle colors re my favorite.

Hey jchny2000 - how are you doing?! Do you still have the NJ? Someone sent me a pm asking if I had any available and I had to let them know that I don't keep them anymore, even though they are a wonderful breed. I thought I might refer them to you?

Thanks! @daskhan and @jchny2000

I will be sure to let you all know if he's someone or not. If not, if one of you want him, you can have him :) I have roosters that I'm still trying to get rid of and I don't think I have room for one more.
