INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So a lot going on in my life lately!! Sigh! Besides the ongoing rescue and care of the Peas..

Just a few days after the rescue my DH was in a bad car accident. Someone ran a stop sign crossing St Rd 44. Wonderful news is the side air bags, etc saved him, walking away with only lots of bruising. Unfortunately my beautiful vehicle was totaled. Now more than a week later I'm still waiting to get a call back from their insurance company!

Fortunately I am driving my aunts spare truck so I'm not completely high and dry!
Hope he is recuperating ok.

Just found out today that nothing hits you harder then one of your prized silkie chicks dieing for no apperent reason left earlier today no signs of trouble come home just a but ago and one of my greys was dead only things I could think of is maybe it got to hot or the others trampled it but sadest part was when I removed the chick and barried it came back to check again and they were looking for it so sad
Its really hard to find, am so sorry!

We're not having an Asian beetle problem as much as we do a stink bug problem. Not the native green ones, but the invasive brown ones. They come into the house like they own the place.
We have one puppy that eats them...then he's sorry for a few seconds...then he goes right about his business. To me, they smell like very strong cilantro when they excrete their stink.

nasty things! We had them on the pumpkin last year.

So I have another question I set about 20 rir eggs almost three weeks ago then got 15 rb eggs in the mail last time I checked about three days ago none of the rir eggs developed but atleast half of the rb are developing... My rir Roos spur isn't that big so I assume he's kinda young or atleast not old can anyone think of an explanation to what's going things I'm thinking is there's some reason he's not furtil this makes ruffly 50-60 eggs only 4 have hatched or developed

How many hens is he over? Is he the only roo with them? Have you watched to see how he is during a day as far as covering the hens?

Have you seen him doing "his job"? Even if they are crowing, they may not have figured out what to do quite yet.
Take some of the eggs, and compare them to these pics: (copyright on photos)

I will hatch on request only if they are prepaid. I didn't use to do that, but have hatched 4 batches for people that decided they didn't want them. UGH. Then its the matter of finding someone that does! I do still have my Easter Eggers separated, my Dark Cornish. Lavender Orpington went back into the breeding coop yesterday, and I will resume hatching them in 3 weeks.

Spent the day at the hospital with mom. They found 2 heart valves leaking, and are looking at options for valve replacement now. Since she is a dialysis patient, open heart surgery is not an option. Please keep my mom, (Sally) in your prayers. Looks like its moms turn now, guys
