INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Quote: Wow the colors are stunning! Interesting species, just looked them up. Your DH will like them I bet if he just gives the bird a chance. But that's my bird loving view speaking up lol.
My mom kept a sun Conure a long time ago, and Charlie was an awesome fella. Its a cousin of the bird you are looking at. He didn't let Dad near Mom, or any thing else tho he imprinted on her only The type do connect to a family and outsiders may not be accepted well. Charlie had cage time and open free time in the house. Dad didn't have a lot of interest in him sadly. He likes chickens more, and Charlie literally attacked him one day because Dad gave mom a hug..So I found him a bird rehabber and rehomed him. I worked way too many hours a week to take him myself then.
I know you work hard to bond with anything you have so I bet it will be an awesome addition to your family, they just need to imprint on anyone living in your house.

4H forms all filled out online. 2 children signed up this year for mini 4H. The deadline is in January for those with 4 H kids.

Anyone here show 4 H goats? DO they have to have a tag in their ear. I tattoo my goats' ears and there is no way I'm interested in putting a tag in their ear as well.

The cost starts out as a per child fee but only for children graduating 3rd grade or higher this spring. Then it is capped per family as well.
The costs are not going to be the sign up costs. I'm thinking the cost to prep an animal for showing and making it to fair week will be much higher than the fee. There are groups in my county that meet once a month.

@jsummers is a 4H leader, she can give you some advice too. She is my good friend just up by Anderson, raises Nubian also. Has a gorgeous sweet Buck, just adore him.
ETA I totally agree. Ear tags pose such a risk for infection and injury.

I highly recommend joining a group. There is such a variety of projects to enter. Engineering, robotics, computers, veterinary science, art, photography, small pets, & cooking are the big categories by us. In our county, the last mini farm was sold about 7 years ago. We have a handful of kids with chickens & rabbits, but all the other livestock are from people from other areas.
