INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I did not know that geese would attack aerial predators! Do you have much of a problem with any of your geese turning mean on you? I didn't have any interest in them, but you have me rethinking things.

Would love that ducksghetti recipe!

I said that I wouldn't be raising chicks in the middle of winter this year and am eating my words. I have 16 Ohiki chicks that are a week old. When my bbr hen that was in with Charlemagne started laying last month, I couldn't help myself.

Happy New Year to everyone!

My sweet Senegal Phoenix!

Ace my parrotlet baby! Love him too
These are all some beautiful birds!

Sorry I keep sharing my parrots I don't have any birds this winter. I cleaned house to start over this summer!
Thats absolutely ok.. and I want to see more pictures of Ace!

Seller on craigslist was a super nice lady (also a peace officer)!

I hate going to meet people on craigslist without other people in my car, but no one was up in time to leave with me.

Her birds are all in super great condition. Almost all of them are Marans or mixes and most are 2-3 years old (though she has some babies!). I told her that if she couldn't find homes for one by the end of the week to go ahead and email me because I'd really like a dark brown laying breed to cross over my Wellie and EEs. The green eggs have been the underdog favorite for the people who get eggs from me, so I'm eager to get some more green layers. I only have one green layer.

New Brahma boy is prettydarn big. He dwarfed the other roos in her yard, but he's proven no match for Wun Wun, who's decided he's top cock of the walk in Mag's absence. The BLRW roo is going to be his biggest competition from the looks of things, but he's a jerk, so I'm hoping he steps on Wun Wun's toes and gets plastered back into place. Wun Wun's a fine roo; chickrookie's going to be very happy with him (or I'll gleefully take him back!)
Awesome news!

I had a very painful loss today, one of my oldest goose hens went missing last night. Snowy was a very dominant goose, probably top hen. I count a few times every day. Every bird.. I know who is here by species. Snowy wasn't in the goose coop, so I spent several hours looking, we have 5 acres. I found her this morning because Gee and Angel won't leave the pond.
She is way out in the middle of our pond, I can't even give her a proper burial yet because our pond is frozen. Heartbroken to lose her, she was one of my original geese and a very good friend. Gee and Angel I was finally able to coop up.. they are still calling for Snowy.

I've been on chicken business in Florida for three days and my preggo messages me and says no chickens have died since I've left... Wth life trying to tell me something I guess lol

That's so heartbreaking. So very sorry.

Im up at this wee hour of a morning due to being awoken by honking outside. I could tell Rocky was honking from a further distance than he normally roosts and sure enough found him way up a tree in the woods.

It wasnt until I started walking about did the other peas start in.
Im guessing the Owl was back. Things have been quiet since the loss of my younger girl. The hen and young boy have most every night since slept in the coop. They are outside tonight. Rocky had abandoned the deck to the playset since and it worried me. There were several feathers on the ground tonight. Can't help but believe it tried to get him tonight.

For those of you new to here, Rocky is my young peacock. He was raised inside for some time and quite a spoiled boy! ;)
