Im still impatiently waiting to be able to get the ducklings out of the bator! Sigh...

All 3 that are working on hatching are trying hard, silly baby that already hatched keeps going to each of them and sitting on them! Grrr...hate that!

9 of 14 made it to lockdown but right now i have only 4 that seems will hatch. Hmmm...

I just want these out so i can candle the others.

If no more hatch i will be very upset because that % stinks! I would have never had such a bad hatch rate in this bator.

Ran to RK on a chick hunt for @amwchickin they do have Roen ducklings, partridge rock, black sex links, buff brahma, amber sexlink, RIR, black australorp and a handful of brown leghorn. The guinea were gone but said they only got 25 in and they were gone within the first 4 hours.

He said their new batch was Waiting to be pick up from the post office and should be there within the hour. That was around 9 this morning.

Im going back at lunch just to check it out. ;)

I had 2 of 3 that were hatching showing signs that the goop was hardening so i pulled them all and assisted. Glad i did, 1 of them was pretty bad. All veins had receeded and yolks absorbed. I kept adding water through the vent to make sure humidity stayed up but it didn't help. May have made it worse.?? Also glad i did because another egg had externally pipped but on the under side which was yellow and dried out, i wouldn't have known if i didn't go to candle the others. Soo...ive been working on it every hour since i discovered it. Its veins weren't receeded all the way so trying to leave it be except to help progress it a little at a time.

So far 2 are all yellow and 2 wild type pattern. Can't tell with the last fella yet.

I placed the hatched into the styro bator to use as a hatcher.
Not a great pic but here it is.

Oh boy I know, its rough. Thats why if at all possible I broody hatch now. I usually have several sponges around the eggs, and dampen the paper towels at lockdown. Even then I often get shrink wrapped ducklings. I had a hatch of 14 and all were shrink wrapped. Fortunately my DD was still at home then, and helped me get them all out.
