INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi! I'm located in Jennings County. It's been a couple of years since I posted. I am looking for bantam pullets and a cockrel. A mildly mature group is fine, too. I don't really care about the breed as long as they are bantams. My FIL is jonesing to start a flock of them. I am also looking for a mini rex doe.
My update...
I took all my ladies to my FIL because I couldn't control the coon population and was having a mental breakdown everything I left the house about them being eaten. They still remember me and come running when they see me. I've added a doe to my mini rex buck and just had our first babies last Wednesday. And finally, we added 2 boxers-a year apart. Those are like having 2 hyperactive little boys to the family...lol.Hope everybody has been good and healthy.

@jchny2000 - how is it possible that I have passed you up?? I never thought that would happen!

I think I tend to over populate a little now because I am afraid of what could happen with predators. I am still knocking on wood that things have been running pretty good with the flock. I even spent time working in the rain to get some chicken wire at the bottom of the fence so littles couldn't squeeze their little fluff butts through. Next up is better netting over the top, and then more fencing to widen their area. I'm seriously contemplating not going on the family vacation because I could put that money towards fence. And after last year letting someone watch over the birds that didn't have a clue didn't turn out too well (had a broody, her eggs were taken...people got developing eggs...I'm driving through the west and get pics of half formed chicks in frying pans...

), I just don't know what I'm going to do. I have a month or so to decide though.

@wheezy50 - here is my Sumatra mama with her adoptees! I think #4 is behind her. They are so stinking cute and she is such a great mama to them!

Tragic news on the urban homestead strikes again.

Turned the littles out for a bit of supervised playtime this afternoon and noticed one of the three BBW turkey poults had swollen hock joints, which never ends well. Picked him up and cuddled for a little while, and DH asked e to come in and help him put an allergy-proof zip-up mattress cover on one of the kids' beds. Came back out and realized Major Tom had stomped one of the other two BBW poults to death trying to mate with it.  So yeah, can't shake the feeling I've gone from six turkeys to three because if I can't trust Major with littles, I can't keep him after all. I've never heard of a tom doing that before.

That's so sad. I bet he didn't mean to, but it doesn't change the sad outcome. So sorry...

I seriously have no idea what's going on with my new rooster. I found him and his brother on Facebook and immediately went and got them! They are gorgeous! Especially the one that I had my eye on! When I went to go get him I noticed his feet were different. His toes never fully grew!! The lady said that his other brother was the same but worst feet, but there's nothing wrong with him. He walks and runs funny but he was totally fine!! Just recently I noticed he hadn't been out and about and staying close to the coop. Sleepy and wasn't eating much. The past 3 nights when closing them in he was on the ground, I picked him up and placed him on the perch. Tonight when closing them in he wasn't around. Thinking the worst I went looking for him. As I walked past the grain bins I heard a small crow and turned around and saw him hobbling out from the grain bin. I picked him up and carried him to the coop. As I placed him down he fell to the ground. Thinking to myself, if he's sick or something I need to get him away from the rest and try and nurse him back to health. I collected good and water and put Rx from tractor supply in the water. When I went to get the water I sat him on my sons swing set and then I noticed his feet again!!

Does anyone know what this is or seen it before or give me any advice!!!! He's so gorgeous that I don't want nothing to happen to him!!! It's his left foot but right foot in the picture!

The right foot/normal foot.

the left foot/ swollen looking foot. My handsome rooster! When his feathers are laying nicely on his chest it looks like spots!!

We're having a combo b-day party for our kids & decided to use this pic for the invites. (I photo-shopped the hats, of course.)
There was something about their expressions I just couldn't resist!
