INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Cogburn is @kittydoc 's. We have a son & grandson from him. Love both. Big & Beautiful. This guy is so sweet. He's our perfect roo. This cockeral is only 4 mo & already bigger than his daddy above. Has a lot more filling out to do as he grows into his long legs.
Wow, those are amazing birds

My daughter has taken to calling our lone remaining Polish chick "Goblin King". It's a super cuddly baby--I almost brought it to organic chem lecture with me tonight because it just wanted to cuddle up and sleep on me. I put on a scarf so it could properly snuggle into the "plumage" on the back of my neck (it's favorite spot tonight). Poor lonely baby. It keeps following me inside, and I can't even turn it away anymore. Too precious.

Enjoyed meeting @Jntnrmn
and her husband this afternoon!

We have such nice folks on the Indiana thread!

It was so nice to meet you as well. Yesterday proved to be a beautiful day all the way around, ending with this sweet boy Blue ( keeping blue from blue band lol)
I know last night was such a short experience to know much but I feel good about him so far.

Lots of great pictures as always~miss you guys!
I have kept a few chickens, but cut back to a handful. I don't plan to hatch any for a few years, as far as selling its not likely I will do it anymore. We will only do minimum hatching on our poultry, waterfowl and guineas in the spring for the table.
We are also selling out on our pigs. Have my smaller Berkshire sow left with 10 piglets. Super social sow, am going to miss her. Piglets wean in a week. I am going to post them on our Facebook page. With those changes, its going to keep things more manageable for me.
Snow in the Rockies! Gramma used to say that means snow here in a month, lol! Nooooo!

Snow? That's a 4 letter word.

They've had snow in the Rockies for a month. Beartooth pass outside of red lodge Montana got shut down for a few days in August.

Hello again! Hope the fall season is treating everyone well. After a bit of recovery I'm able to get out and about to check on the ducks more and I've noticed something that seems odd. I know that in the wild males may assist in nesting but is it normal for the male to help entirely in the egg monitoring duties? You would think he has gone broody too. Every morning when I go to let them out he's on the nest too.

I don't know much about ducks, but it seems like you have a Mr Nice Guy.

I've noticed that under our recent hawk attacks, our 3 roos have 3 standard guard positions (& seem to rotate their positions.) One stands outside with whatever hens are out. One guards the run door where the majority of the hens are located, and the 3rd guards the coop by the nest boxes. That's also where the broody hens & chicks hang out. The coop roo does not sit on eggs, though. Sometimes he'll check out a nest box & it looks like he's instructing the hens on how to lay an egg. That always makes me laugh.

Better hang on to that fella! Glad to hear you are feeling better.
