So I'm going to be getting a 10'x16' shed to keep all my quails in! So excited for the new shed! Going to be filling it up with quails and will be selling lots of eggs! I will be using the money from selling eggs to make the monthly bill for the shed! The shed is a rent to own for $122.00 a month for 60 months.
We do not have rabbits yet, but the new bi-level "quail cage" was built much, much larger than needed. Hoping when DD gets tired of quail, we can process them & get a flemish giant.
Today DD presented 15 projects, Tues = 4 more projects, and Wed is the talent show in which she will dance. DS presented his Cloverbud project today.
DD's vet sci was a pretty big one. She used her sci fair project but the orig conclusion was "inconclusive" because she had to do the experiment in Nov-Dec. I asked her to do a couple more trials in spring when fertility would be higher, so she could then present a better project at the fair. (This was the project where she hatched fertile grocery store, farmer's market, & backyard eggs. )
For poultry sci she talked about her experience with hatching quail, explained how she made feeders & wateres, and designed a cage. She received a grant to build a new cage and accessories for her quail. Last week was too hot for my dad to work in his garage with her, so the cage is only 90% done. We have pics of a mostly completed cage. Hopefully they'll understand & not mark her down too much. I'd hate for her to score low for having high goals when just simply hatching is what most kids try to accomplish.
(Of course, it's also obvious by the size that the quail cage was built for a future rabbit. LOL)

DD was in big demand this afternoon due to the amount of projects she entered. As we were leaving she noticed that she won best in show for her metal project (visual arts) AND her photography - the pic of Drumsticks, our Spitzhauben roo. Many other projects had the blue ribbons. Don't know about her 2 big poultry projects, but we'll be back tomorrow for round #2. We were pretty surprised that her photos did so well.
Here's the pic she chose:
Drumsticks earned her a blue ribbon, Class Champ, & Best in Show
This one of Brick got a blue ribbon & Class Champ ribbon
The only mild heartbreak was her nature art. She dyed molted feathers from our chickens & made colorful hairpieces. The judge told her that the fake crystals & metal hair clips took away from the natural appearance. DD got a red ribbon. Oh well. Her friends all enjoy wearing them.
DS presented his project just fine. The other Cloverbud never showed, so DS did it all by himself. Afterwards he said he really liked it and wanted to go home to make another project so he could present again tomorrow. LOL For next year he wants to do many projects all by himself just like his sister and is upset that he can only present ONE.
