View attachment 1089229 A heirloom cauliflower, first year growing it. Store bought does not compare, and will not be purchasing store bought anymore after having this!

That's an interesting color. At 1st it looked like a piece of coral. LOL

Are there any tricks to growing cauliflower? I tried it one year & it went from immature to rotten before we could eat it. I had no problems with the broccoli, though.

So this morning around 3:00 AM a person broke into almost all cars on my street. My street is mostly my family. I was up with my 1 year old son when they broke into my cars. My property has cameras but the person took out my porch light and pole spot lights so the camera has a poor quality video of the thief. The person didn't get caught, and cops won't do anything. They say they have to catch him in the act. That video footage won't do!! None of my vehicles had anything inside to steal, but my cousin's car window was shattered and he stole $400 from her car. Only her car had the alarm on and he left after going through it. My sons car seat has a muddy foot print in it.

But good news I got a new kitten... This little girl was walking around with this tiny white kitten that looked supper weak and hungry. The girl said $2 for the kitten then said $20. I told her I'll do $2 . she said no so I said "That kitten is too tiny to be away from it's mama. If that kitten dies its going to be your fault and you will be in trouble. 5 minutes latter she sells me the kitten for $2! I hurried to the store and bought kitten soft food and it ate until it passed out. Turns out she is a girl. I'm not a cat person but I couldn't let the kitten die because of full-ish kids and their parents not watching their kids. This girl was about 4-6 Years old!!! And this girl lived on a different block 3 streets over! What is with parents these days!
My husband named our new kitten Whitey because he named our other cat shady. Shady loves laying on our dog Isis.

Being the first year growing it, I don't have many suggestions. It does tend to bolt to flower quickly if not kept an eye on, like the broccoli.

The imported cabbage worms love the leaves, so that has to be kept in order.

View attachment 1089228 Rosebush I just purchased this year. This is the most recent flush of blooms taken two days ago. There's more buds outside the picture frame.

It's called 'Midnight Blue'. The fragrance is strongest when the sun is on it, and has a citrus/clove fragrance.

It's in a large pot to bring in during the winter.

Absolutely stunning! It's amazing how different the scent of each variety can be

We had several rashes of break ins in my old neighborhood. Broken windows and lots of stolen items. People started putting up cameras and extra security lights. Even started a neighborhood watch and surveillance teams. Never caught the jerks. Terrible times.

That kitty is so cute! It is sad how little respect some people have for animals. Most of my animals are rescues. I'm glad you were able to give that kitty a happy and safe home!

Wow! I find both stories kind of scary!

Someone got into DH's car a few years ago.....but it was sort of his own fault for leaving it unlocked & in our driveway all night. They took his leather bag & coat. Both were missed, but his bag had client info so he had to change everyone's security & passwords which added many hours of damage control. We think it was just random kids out for a thrill b/c they took off with 2 items & a handful of change. They left the computer & laptop in the trunk. The police wrote a report but it wasn't like they could do anything. Our dog was going crazy that night, but he also barks at our ice maker, so we ignored it.

My brother on the other hand had someone break into his HOUSE while everyone was out at work & school. They stole my SIL's jewelry, and my bro's antique gun & coin collections. They got in by breaking a basement window but left a shoe print in the snow. The police happened to catch one of the burglars via a drug bust & they found a few items that were reported stolen in the trunk. Like Cinderella, they also found the shoe to match the print left in the snow. The civil war guns & coins were already gone & sold. The jewelry is still in police custody because the case is in limbo due to a technicality. The boys basically cased the neighborhood & knew that the house would be empty. They hit several houses in the area. What the criminals never realized is that my nephew has a recording studio & many expensive instruments in the basement. (Professional sound engineer & musician. He toured with Citizen Way on bass and is currently doing all the local Chicago festivals with his old college band) Anyway the criminals walked by & left over 100K of musical equipment but stole a couple hundred dollars of jewelry & an old ipod.

Its sad that there are people out there who rob others for a living instead of getting a job.
Today I got woke up around 6 am by the little girl who sold me the kitten. She said her mother sent her to get the kitten back and that she would give me my $2 back tomorrow??. I told her no that I will not give the kitten back, and that I took it to the animal hospital to drop it off because it was too little and needed a vet. She screamed at me saying "why would you do that! I have her mom!" I told her she shouldn't have been trying to sell it in the first place and that I want to speak to her mom. She yelled at me again saying "No! I won't let you!" then ran off.

Anyways yes I still have her. She and our other cat didn't like each other at first, but my husband made them lay next to each other all night. Now they play together!

It is with deep sadness I must share that my Mother, Sally Miller went home to our Lord at approximately 8:40pm Wednesday. I ask you please keep my Dad, Everett Miller in your prayers if inclined to do so for strength. I am of course wide awake.. They Just celebrated their 59th anniversary on the 25th.will be back to our thread soon.
