INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

My aviary's are completely closed in. They have chicken wire roof and with a border chain-link fence with chicken wire around the inside of the fences. There is 1/2" wire mesh that goes 3ft into the ground and dirt 1/2ft on the outside bottom of the fences. Also we have 1/2" mesh buried 2ft under the ground in each aviary. So no predators could get in. We only have possums and raccoons near me. But my guard dog keeps them away. No signs of and intruder's. I did count one of my girls nest today. She had 16 eggs and now she has 25 eggs! I'm thinking she took them. None of my girls are laying eggs because they are all on their own nests incubating.

Most likely, one of your other girls has snitched them. Depending on how "predator proof" your run is, you might have opossums, rats or snakes. Very hard to proof a run from rats and snakes, and both gleefully take off with eggs. Another option is that she cracked them (accidentally, most likely) and possibly ate them.

Her name is Jennie. She is located in Laporte. I'll see if I can find her number!

What?! Hay bales for a dollar? Where, who?

I posted these pictures in another forum but there are so many on this website it's hard to keep track of which one I should use. So I figured I'd take a shot with y'all. I got a new rooster this week and I am curious as to what breed he is. My neighbor brought him to me. Apparently a 14-year-old boy raised him from a chick but wasn't able to keep him because he isn't allowed roosters in city limits. He is definitely a pet chicken. He follows me around the yard like a puppy. I've never been interested in having a rooster (of course I've only had chicken since last December). I'm hoping he behaves himself so I can keep him. Otherwise he might be dinner one night.

I have some beautiful English lav orps & choc cuckoo orps for sale & someone just contacted me saying they would need some little chicks ASAP.

????

Trying to give the benefit of the doubt, I replied to let him know that orps are not a small breed and that my 6 wk old pullets are already feathered & large. The only small chicks I will have will be the quail hatching next weekend.

* I was hoping it was a simple case of a person with English as a 2nd language.

Nope. He replied back:
"O ok lol thanks. I'll actually need those quail ones cuz the small the chicks are the better and stay small for a long period of time lol. Thanks and hopefully they hatch quicker lol "

Not sure if I'm being pranked. After all he did use "lol" 3xs in his reply. However he certainly won't be meeting my chicks.

I know this was 250 posts ago but sounds like someone was looking for snake food to me.
