INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Young boys that are available before Sunday, so pm me ASAP is anyone is interested. They all have nice low toned crows.

These pics were taken 1/11/18.

He is mild mannered, as the others of the same color were and would probably be a good boy with a group of hens.

He seems to be the shyest, and also mild mannered.

This blonde boy above tries to be dominant over me, but when I pick him up he surrenders, so he may be able to be trained. The pics show his color more red than what he really is.

What I've noticed about the roosters that I've bred and kept is that they are not going through the crazy hormonal stage that most cockerels go through. The dad didn't either. I think alone there is value in that, plus being pretty, even though they are not a pure breed.

In the future I may have a boy only area.
I wish I had more room! Of course more chickens to fill it!

I'm overrun with roosters, too. Two of the hopeful pullets are guys, so that makes... too dang many guys.

1. Optimus Prime, handsome Marans/EE/Sumatra guy. He's chivalrous, protective of his girls, never aggressive with people.

2. Jazz, (most likely) his son over a mottled Breda hen (I think). Holy crap, he's too pretty to eat. He has the Breda stateliness with a lot of Sumatra carriage and build. He's almost 100% black with a vivid beetle sheen, but he's starting to get a little silver in his hackles.

3. Horns, (I'm pretty sure) white Leghorn rooster over mottled Breda hen, but I could be wrong. He has a huge V comb with sprigs, but his earlobes aren't quite as white as I'd hoped for, if that was his parental cross. So far, he and Jazz almost never crow. He's getting a cream bleed in his saddles and shoulder. Very friendly guy, super alert, probably going to be a chivalrous dude. Not a big guy, but his parents weren't either. He and Starscream are taking forever to grow proper sword feathers.

4. Wun Wun Two, now affectionately called Starscream. White Leghorn rooster over EE/Brahma hen. Has some impressive stature, is a dominant rooster in waiting, likely to grow up more chivalrous and carries a lot of nice rooster genes. Most likely carries light blue-green egg genes (probably carries all three types of alleles). He has a super tall, floppy pea comb. He's going to be an excellent dual purpose or free range meat bird breeder. Nice enough, but he has a loud and frequent crow.

5. Lavender Orp/Coronation Sussex rooster over lavender partridge EE. He's Coronation colored with muffs, clean pretty legs, and a bit of cream color bleeding into his hackles and saddles. Dad was huge, mom was tiny but a great layer of blue eggs. He's got green egg genes. Pea comb. Pretty friendly and non-dominant.

6. Silver laced bearded Polish rooster over most likely a Black Copper Marans hen. He's got Optimus Prime's
unique cup-like comb, which I think he got from his mom (a French BCM). This guy's definitely half Polish though because he has a crest. While he might carry green egg genes, most likely, he's a dark brown egg split to white, so count him as brown. Probably going to be a spritely but excellent little rooster. He's mostly black but has mottled bits of silver lacing here and there.

7. Going to have to come up for a new name for the littlelittle white Silkie roo (and his sweet girl). Turns out, he's a vicious mouser! He's also nippy because the other birds pick on him a bit, but he always calms down so well and never hurts anybody, so I can't even hold it against him.

Plus, the honorary #8. Jake Jake, the red slate tom.

I have 2 CX pullets, 3 white Leghorn cross pullets (one's probably that Orp roo over WL hen, and the other two are WL roo over production Red hens), one white silkie hen, one barred Rock pullet, one tiny turkey hen, and 2 half Marans pullets. That's it for girls, so I'm needing to give up some dudes, if anyone is looking for guys.

I'd like to keep Jazz and/or Horns because I'm wanting to keep the super recessive Breda combless genes in the project, and I don't think the pullets carry any. It'll be quite a few generations before I'm likely to see the combless trait show up again already in this project and I don't want to kill off my chances of recovering that trait eventually. Horns is the most likely carrier, but I think Jazz might have it too.

Here's Optimus Prime:

Here's Jazz (plus some photobombing turkeys and the Coronation EE)

Here's the Polish mix (as good as I could get of him at least--he doesn't sit pretty for pictures), and a big group of other birds that wanted to rush out the door this morning. Starscream and Horns are the mostly white roosters. Starscream's comb is flopped over the other way in the first picture. I'd tried to take more pics of him, but Henny Penny the Turkey takes exception to him sometimes and chases him around, so he really wasn't sitting still for me.

Horn's is front and center for that last picture, with the little Polish mix behind him. The barred Rock is a very sweet, friendly girl. Love her to bits. Henny Penny is just as ornery as she looks.

Here's some more of Horns, who is sweeter and more friendly than he looks:

I was telling someone about how black orps are my fav because of the way they shine in the sun.... and then I realized I didn't have any recent pics to back it up.

I had to remedy that!

Today I took a few pics of my LF blk/lav split orp pullet. Here's "Smudge"
I couldn't get her full iridescent shine, so I'm wondering if a diff time of day, season, or angle is better. However, I do like the contrast with the snow.

My friend Jennie breeds them! She is located in LaPorte, Indiana. She have Royal Palms, White Meat Turkeys, and others. She has tons of chickens, and ducks too. I'll ask her if I can give you her number!
