INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

75 seeds started tonight, that's just the peppers and tomatoes. I grow extra veggies for all of our critters to eat too. Chickens just love tomato, pumpkin, squash, cucumber and so many other veggies. I always use extra for my ladies, chickens and livestock first. Then put up more canned, dehydrated and frozen. I always plant too much because we share with family too.
I want to restart my Dark Cornish flock, adore Beefy they are a gentle breed towards people. Has anyone used Strombergs hatchery before, the pictures look heritage. I'd also like to add Bresse but they are hard to find. We had a member that kept both but I've not been able to contact him over a year now.
We used up nearly a full round bale of hay bedding everyone with hay to keep warm. I've got goats due to kid any day and am very nervous about it. Belle our LGD won't like it but she will be in the porch at night Sunday night through tuesday. I know her breed can handle it but Indiana law doesn't allow me to leave her out with her herd with the temps predicted. I'm really going to look at that more. Pyrenees have a very heavy coat, and a smaller fine coat below. Bringing her indoors she's going to overheat! She's very well mannered I just don't want to put her through such a huge temp adjustment.

Lovely dogs! A relative has a Boxer. Very loyal and loves to go rafting! Should share pictures of them!

@jchny2000 Do you raise the Dark Cornish as meat birds?
I'd like to, they are a chunky stocky bird. We had processed a few fellas when I had a full flock, and wow they were so good! Store bought chicken its all white meat. I prefer dark meat, and the taste just isn't there anymore!
Bresse are just as big, and also have a stocky build.

I moved the older chicks into the brooder this morning.

Here are the 2 seramas that hatched (out of 3 eggs). I think the last egg is dead, but since the orps are now hatching, the incubator will be on for a few more days.

One chick is a day older, but because they're the same color, I can't be sure which one.

Here are the 1st 3 orpingtons:

1st one to hatch has "eyebrows"

2nd one is "extra fluffy"

3rd one is possible a "dark chocolate"

(We give them nicknames at hatch to identify them. We don't give them a proper name unless we decide to keep them.)

A buff orp from "Cupcake" also hatched, but it will have to wait until tomorrow's chicks are removed. It seems to have a herniated navel, so some extra time resting in the incubator won't be a bad thing. Cupcake is a Buff Colombian Orp, so I'm curious to find out if it will look like the mama.

Today is day 21. 8 eggs left, so more chicks coming......

Although I've hatched a lot of chicks, it just doesn't get old. It's like opening presents on Christmas morning .... so much fun & excitement to finally see what's inside.

Belle is crying and barking. We brought her in due to temps coming. She's in our unheated porch for the night. I don't feel this is a good choice for her being separated from her goats.
here is my latest chicks, assuming Maran also, all look rooster, ugh.
