Ok enough pics, now sit down

LOL it was too hot to have them sitting on me long! 90 degrees today!

Watch for gnats they go in mouth nose and ears to feed. Could be grass stuck in her throat I had that today. Chicken kept sneezing and stretching its beak. I think also upper respiratory problems can cause something like a sneeze. Or just dust in the nose. Those are just some of my experiences in the last month.

I am sure there are several other good links out there too. Nasty buggers!

  • jhfamily5 ~ I agree raising chickens is very therapeutic and has helped with my depression as well. My children love the chickens and don't complain about being outside as much anymore.
I just have to chime in and re-post a recent post of mine:

"My Chickens Have Changed My LIfe"
I must tell you another "My Chickens Have Changed My LIfe" stories. I went to the doc today for a check-up and all of my blood tests, etc. were perfect, lost weight, and had my lowest cholesterol count ever! It's my chicken therapy! I go outside everyday despite the weather and do yard work with my flock for an average of three hours. It was especially good for me to get out every day in the winter -- the natural light was very helpful for seasonal affective disorder.

I went outside to lock up the hens and Ms May was on the roost with them along with all 5 babys

I'm making progress lol but it made m3 and my dad happy

Awww! Glad Ms May is doing well. I guess her bumblefoot is all better. You were a good surgeon! And you have a great, supportive dad. : - )

X3! 3-1/2 years ago, my DH and I worked for the same company. The doors closed, lost our jobs... We lost nearly everything we owned. Huge reality check. I had never been thru such an experience and I will be 50 this year.. I have since become a lot more careful where our money goes. My birds have been a blessing, and really changed my outlook on life too. They trust me to feed care and protect them, and in return I get a lapful cooing happy birds. I don't want to ever need to guess whether my groceries are going to come from next week either! My pets are my laying flocks and breeders, but I do raise animals for meat, & milk. Too late for a garden this year.. but I will sure have the compost ready when i have one

Not really too late, but I agree it's almost too late. Depends on the size of your garden. We had a 1000 sq ft garden last 10 years. This year, way smaller, gonna be the summer of the chicken. And some garlic. And some watermelons. And some peppers And and wait, I said no vegetabale garden this year!
