INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Pics
I have an order coming close to Easter from there. I got my reds from there this past fall. Their service was great. I'm getting rooster meat birds this spring but I'm still looking for someone to help with the slaughter / cleaning part. We also need to build our temporary coop for the meat birds. They only need a coop / run for 18 weeks so I don't want anything permanent.

Look at this website, it may be the type of enclosure you want... This is super cheap and would be an easy project!

Hi everyone! I'm in Northwest Indiana. We have a several breeds, but are planning on hatching out some of our Black Copper Marans, Mille Fleur d'Uccles, and Orpingtons starting in February. We also raise meat chickens in the spring and fall. Best of all -- we just ordered turkeys for the spring!

Thanks so much for the links. We are going to build something like those. The first one linked is awesome. I was planning on something similar. But I was thinking of using a netting to cover the arches with some tarp over part of it. The thing I'm nervous about with using a net is the chicks can get out of it pretty easily until they get some size on them. I plan to use either irrigation tubing to make the arches or PVC piping. This tread mentions that PVC might crack over time. And our summers do get hot here.

I think I might have found another chicken person from Martinsville willing to come out to our place. I'm so thrilled. Now I need to find the bags and start stocking up on ice.

Another question, how much space do I need in the coop per bird to raise meat roosters not the 8 week meat birds?
