INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Would it be better to have the roosts on the same level rather than graduated in the image? If there were 2 roosts at 2 foot high and a smaller one at 1 foot high (for them to get up to the others), would that be enough space and keep them happy?

The gray boxes were just to show the height of the coop box.
I had read that it's better to have perches at one level to avoid the hens squabbling about who gets to perch at the top level. We started out with one perch and because of squabbling, we added another one-- exactly like the first one, at the same height, parallel to the first one. They still argued and pecked about who was going to perch where! Regardless of being on the same level, one prefers to be at the end, one prefers facing one way, one likes the middle-- although they don't always end up in the same order every night. And-- a year later, they still go through the arguing and pecking routine EVERY night! (typically lasts 10 mins.) They might have gotten along better if they were all from the same initial flock, but since I had surprise roos, I had to mix in new members to the flock.

I got some pictures of most of the chicks I'd like to sell. I had to try and beat the sun! I'm really liking these orloffs, still not sure what I'm going to do with them lol.

thanks. And i say a costco in a movie and had no idea that it was real store lol. Imight start out with cheap way first to seeif it works before going to something expensive. But it is good to know that is also an option. Thank you

The game trail camera is a digital camera that will snap a picture of anything that moves and save it on a SD card. The photos can be viewed on your computer. Each photo will have a time stamp which will show you the date/time when the photo was taken. If you see that it is a chupacabra that comes by at 3:30 each night, you can be waiting for it with your trusty .22 and discourage it's return on subsequent nights.

Another option is a have-a-heart trap that you can get for around $30 at TSC or Rural King. The .22 will discourage it from returning on subsequent nights.
