INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hello fellow Hoosiers. I am not always logged in here but I wanted to provide my latest link. I am on day 20 of my second attempt at incubating. (first one went 5 of 8) One egg pipped around noon today (lower right one in the camera view). Here is a link to a video that, I hope, will run throughout the hatching. I have 6 in the 'bator and hope to have reasonable success. I heard peeping for a short time a couple of hours ago, too. The glass has some fog from the interior humidity and the outside glass reflects all lights in the room--including the netbook screen. While it could be a very boring waste of time, it might also provide a little excitement if the hatching actually occurs!

Sounds exciting thanks!

Hi fellow Hoosiers! I've been away from BYC for a while and so just discovered this new Indiana thread. Good! I'm in southern Indiana, close to Louisville, Ky. My chickens are like me - wimps when it comes to these cold temps we're having right now. On the bright side, at least it's sunny today! Stay warm!

Awesome that you have joined us!

aww i am so sorry. You have to judge for yourself, is he suffering? Its that fine line between "pet" and Livestock" too. Its never an easy choice for sure. Turkeys are slow growers, makes it a lot harder decision to make. If he isn't obviously in pain, wait a day or so to decide.

I was going to give him time. Wasnt going to rush into anything. He doesnt seem to be in much pain but cant really tell. He is laying in one spot which I would be to if i broke my leg. If he pulls threw and survives with just one leg he will take alot of attention.

oooh I have pictures! Almost forgot to share.
Here is my Australorps at 5 weeks:

This is the "free" chick that i got with them. Grey on back and wings. cream belly, barely feathered. No idea what she will be.

Rushing out to see mommy!

My littlest "runt" baby.

HEY wheres the mealworms mom?
