INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Animallover2202, for boer doelings I have a friend who gives me a dicount of $100, but for boer doeling it is ususlly around $150.I don't raise does though, just weathers. It is a pain to have to milk them twice a day.I got an older doe and the people told me that if I quit milking her her utter would dry out and it wouldnt affect her at all, so I just didnt milk her.

If he is thinking of selling excess goat milk, he should check with the health department or whatever is the ruling department about whether or not there are proscriptions against selling raw milk from the farm. I don't know what Indiana rules are, but some states show up with police with drawn weapons to discourage such lawless behavior. A little searching on youtube will turn up the security video of the event. I think it was in California, surprise, surprise. John
In Indiana you get around it by sell herd shares.
i see fresh goat milk for sale locally all the time. listed as "fresh goat milk for pets". as long as you are selling it for "pet use" you are fine. you can't help what people do with it after you sell it to them. :D
those are really nice but i was thinking about trying this one. :D
Wow! I can picture the planning and execution involved in creating something like this. And then wood borers or lightning comes along.............. John
... ya just had to bring up the downsides didn't ya :p
I love the lawn chair pictures, I might just have to invest in one of those so that I don't get another water logged one lol.
but you would need to keep them watered during the dry periods. *speaking to friend on phone* friend: so watcha do'in today? me: well i haveto feed and water the chicks, clean coops and ohh ya i have to water my chair so it will grow up to be a throne fit for a king. friend: you have been hittin' he chickens scratch haven't ya?

It was finally nice to talk "chicken" with somebody face to face and not get a "You have chickens?" reaction.(My DBF just listens to me talk about them and never gets as excited about them as I do, all he cares about is butchering! and i say No sir, not my pets!!!!

Anyway, for anybody who is in the Indianapolis area at around 10th and post, vickichicki has some really good produce!!!

Thank you for the welcome. We just started raising chickens this year. To date we have 17 LF and 4 bantams, they range in age from about 6 weeks to about 3 months old. All of our chicks came from either tsc in Columbia City or big R in Warsaw. From what I have learned from all the nice folks here that have helped me out I think what I have is as follows; 2 OEGB, 1 Mille Fleur d'Uccle rooster, 1 Silver Sebright, 2 Australorp (1 with tail, 1 without) 2 GLW, 1 SLW, 1 BPR, 2 RIR or NH, 1 EE, and 8 that I think are Red Sex Link or Production Reds but I don't know for sure. As for gender the only 1 I am sure of is the bantam.
I love reading all the posts and looking at all the pictures. Here are some pictures of my motley crew.
