INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I still have silkies and hard feathered showgirls available! 2 buff Roos (~16 wks old), 2 blue/buff hard feathered showgirl Roos (~10 wks old), 1 porcelain? Beardless silkie (~10 wks old and appears to be a pullet), 1 blue and 1 light blue/lavender straight comb chicks (~6 weeks old). The buffs are from papa brooder in Cali, and the others are from local breeders. At least the light blue chick has a vaulted skull and possibly the blue. I would have to double heck.

I have 29 in thecoop I do not have enough money for the sevin dust right now but I do have something for them but its a spray i will get the name tomorrow can I give themselves bath and use cat flea and tick shampoo on the chickens and steam the coop and run???? And I wont get there lice right???
Well, you're gonna have to buy something. DE or permethrin or sevin.

Alternately, you could pick each one off of each bird and squish it between two rocks.

On a more serious note, mix the flea and tick shampoo with some water, dip your hand in the solution and rub it on the chicken until it is damp all over. Leave it to dry. Don't wash the solution off the chicken.

Repeat 28 times.

I finally got the bantam's coop MOSTLY done. I will probably be adding a couple egg boxes and another window at some point, I just needed to get it finished and outside. As most people find when building a coop, it took twice as long to build as i thought it would, and cost twice $ what i thought it would!!!!! I just got married on June 27th (in Las Vegas!!

) so having extra time these past two months for construction was difficult, but i'm happy with the final product.

I browsed the coop photos here and elsewhere online and then just started winging it. After this project I have a totally new respect for those who can build things from scratch. I wish i had more of the carpenter gene in my body. But heavy paint and trim will cover a lot of mistakes.

Beginning:

Now getting some primer and paint on it:

And finally, moved to it's final location behind our garage. I was using pieces of PVC pipe to roll the coop in and out of my garage for construction/painting. By the time I got shingles and everything done it was pretty heavy. Took myself and three other grown men to move it around the garage.

The ducks, Thunder and Lightning, had to get in one of the pictures!! My next project will be building them a box of some sort under this coop. The ducks and the bantams have been raised together since they were three or four days old and stay side by side.

Looks GREAT !!!

The first week or so, I had to go out and put the banty's in the coop. They had no trouble coming out in the morning but wouldn't go back in at night. After six or seven nights a few started figuring it out and when I got back from Vegas they were all sleeping inside on their own. I had someone come over each day we were gone to collect eggs, feed/water, and check on things but I couldn't ask them to put the birds to bed too. Luckily they figured it out on their own.

The Wolf (Lake) Giant Animal Swap is tomorrow! I will likely be there looking at cages for the quail and possibly an incubator. Of course you never know what you will find there so may come home with something else!

I don't
I don't know but it seems high temps would kill about everything. Sounds like you aren't wanting to use a bunch of chemicals either. I would bath the bird again, you could steam the coop if you have the means to do so, and add the DE. The DE worked great for me. You could also check in the other emergency forums and see if you can find any answers. If you are desperate and need immediate results I know tractor supply sells poultry dust with permethrin that I hear works well.

I just picked up some food grade D.E. for $8 at TSC. We are chemical free as well.
