Hello! I'm just getting started reading through the thread. I'm from the Mishawaka/South Bend/Elkhart area. I want to say more later but right now I wanted to just put this out there.

I have a broody who has, so far, hatched one chick. I took a look at the others tonight and I may end up with only 1. That is my dilemma. I would prefer her to have hatch-mates to grow up with for all the reasons you already know.

So...I'm putting it out here in Indiana - does anyone know where I can get somewhat locally hatched day-olds to add to the brood from a healthy flock? I'll drive a couple hours if needed. I do have preferred breeds but thought I'd throw it out here first and see if anyone has any ideas.

Im missing a chicken. She is one of my Black Copper Marans. Very Sad. I couldnt find any signs of her either.

I just wanted to say this thread is taking off very nicely.  Thanks to this thread I am meeting up with bradselig sunday afternoon to rehome 2 campbell ducks of his.

Thank you for taking them. I really do love the ducks, but trying to house them with chickens and keep the bedding nice and dry during winter has been a real challenge. Once I get a duck pen for them, I will definitely get more one day. Btw, ill be in a whitish tan colored impala.

Do you have ducks cluck acres? Wish there was water near us to have them. Flat and open fields here.

I just used a kiddie pool for them. During the middle of summer, I changed the water at least daily, though. But they are so much fun to have. I have to keep them locked up on Sundays as I live next to a church. If they are able to free range, they loved to go visit the church goers. They never said anything to me, but didnt want it to become an issue.
