INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I was just in rural K for horse food. And they have chicks too! RR, Cornish cross and sexlinks. The only thing that saved me was I don't want those breeds! Texted the DH to tell him and he said "NO" which almost made me get some!!! But there are too many breeds I do want so I held firm!;)

I was kinda surprised by what big R was selling. They had australorps, buff orps, silver aced wyandottes (was very temped by these but figured I'd just look for hatching eggs), and another breed I can't remember (rhode islands maybe?).

If mine had had those I probably would've buckled! I've got everything set up for my order in 2 weeks. What's a few more......chicken math!!!

Haha I know! I have 17 chicks coming mid march, and purchasing a cabinet style incubator next weekend as well as at least 2 dozen hatching eggs. Only thing that kept me from getting them is the temps outdoors. Really don't want to brood a lot of chicks in the house. Really don't want he quail inside, but they seem to feather out rather quick. I really need to get my garage insulated! If anyone is interested in any of those breeds let me know and I can pick some up or you until you can make it to get them (preferably within a week).

Lol i also stopped in rual king for horsewormer, and seen their chicks! They had buff orps, eggers, cornish cross,i was so close to getting a few more but i was getting the death stare from dh,then was thinking that they may bring something if i put them with my babies...i have hatched to crazy chic lady :)

So does anyone use/have an EcoGlow chick brooder? I'm curious to see what they use for the heating element. With having reptiles I have quite a bit of flex watt (18" panel using 20 watts per panel). I thinkim going to build my own using this flex watt and a lamp dimmer switch. Thought? Opinions?
