My incubator is up and running, doing the test to get my temps right before I add my eggs on Saturday. Still collecting and fingers crossed for a good hatch, so my husband doesn't have a fit over me getting an incubator to even try hatching.

Its a very long list like 3 pages full of different breeds. Would take me awhile to list them unless i take pics of the pages. LOL

Cuck that is so great! I have been passively looking for something bigger and nicer to make an incubator. I found this on YouTube for a homemade turner. I will try it when I build a bigger bator.

I am going to be making one of these you just posted. If you go to the pages I just mentioned about on facebook we have that video on there. LOL

Mother2Hens: I decided to cut and paste the conversations that relate to what I am talking about instead of quoting entire sections. I hope that isn't against the rules! Thank you for your suggestions about navigating the site and organizing the information. I just ran across a post about the necropsy results about natural wormers not working, which is another topic I have been interested in. It may have been one of you who posted that you had been researching that subject. Anyway, let me know if there is anything I can do to help. For example, maybe I could select a topic, and go through posts and copy and paste just the information about that topic in chronological order and adding the screen name of the person who posted the info. One topic would be on one document or page, and the info would be concise. I would update it a couple of times a week. I don't know if that is a possibility, but from my perspective, I think that it would be time efficient and to the point for people who want information on certain topics.

It sure does, that's ok i like easy! No rules on the thread really except I won't tolerate rude, or hateful. and I don't think BYC cares as long as its clean, family oriented (lots of young adults here) and just follows the general guidelines for chat. I do think its a great idea. I will send you a pm so we can discuss further

According to this, Araucanas were first imported from Chile and the Ameraucanas were derived from the araucana (which were really derived from cross breeding 2 breeds of chickens in chile). Ameraucanas are not allowed to have tufts. They are supposed to be bearded, muffed, and have a tail. Araucanas are supposed to be tufted (no beards or muffs) and rump less. That being said, you can still get araucana that don't have tufts and ave a tail. There is a lethal factor involved with the tufts. If memory serves me right, when you breed tufted roo with tufted hen, 25% of the chicks will de in their shell before hatching. Now I'm goings have to go double check

Are Ameraucanas just mongrels produced by crossing Araucanas with other breeds of domestic chickens? As far as can be determined no tufted-rumpless fowl were used to create any of the eight recognized varieties of Ameraucanas. The Ameraucana breed has specific requirements with regard to shape, weights, coloring, comb, earlobes, and so on. While it is true that commercial hatcheries continue to cash in on crossbred mongrels by advertising them as Araucanas or Ameraucanas, it takes much more than eggshell color to make a true breed.

Yea they told me but i forget already LOL but i have the list right here of what all we can order. Just stop in there and ask for the list she should give one to you. She named off alot of different breeds that they will have in the store.
