Sounds exciting! I love the guessing game, and I like mixing breeds too. I do have some pure breed also, but I get a lot of give ups off craigslist etc. that go into the community pen after quarantine..So I'm starting to lose hope on the first batch. Today is day 22 and no new activity from the eggs. I still have 11 unmatched eggs in that bator. Ill probably let it go another day or two and then the float test. I think my main incubator is fine. I saw many chicks moving around when I candled right before placing them in the hatching incubator. Maybe the issue is with the hatching incubator? The two araucana and Campine are doing fine though. When I woke up this morning, the Campine had stuck his head through the shell and that was it. I ended p helping him and his feathers ended up stuck to him (sticky chick?). So after I got home and noticed this, I pulled him out and gave him a sponge bath. Heis looking better but still needs another bath.
On a good note, I have 3-4 birchen Marans in the other bator already pipping! Hoping this hatch is better than the first!
I also stopped into Orschlens today (as well as TSC and BigR but didn't buy any chicks there) and picked up 5 chicks! 3 were out of their Fry Pan Straight run bin and 2 were from the rainbow layer pullet bin. Ill be posting pictures soon. The layers I have no idea what they are. They are a white/yellow chick with a bluish "vest" on. The fry pan chicks while not 100% I believe one is an Easter egger (probably a male). I really like their colors though lol.
Here are the chicks!

I got moldy feed at orchelien in corydon indiana. Hubby had been feeding them cause I was working, today after supper I grabbed the feed pail and went to scoop some feed and it had large corn cob sized and smaller chunks of hard moldy feed. I screamed and ran out to the coop and dumped their feed out into a bucket and sure enough the large chunks were in the feeder....
i need help knowing what to look for..signs the girls are ill or how long I have to keep a eye out..when will I know the danger is past.
I'm hoping my fellow Hoosiers can help me find the info I have been searching here my i can't figure out the search engine here. The threads that pop up don't match my search quest.
Im so upset and appreciate any help advice or knowledge you can pass on to me on this subject.
