INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I have a question for you all. I am looking for GMO free feed for my milking goats and chickens. I didn't know if anyone had a place around Indy within a hour drive that they liked.

The one in Noblesville I have heard good comments about, but no personal experience so far. I did hear they can mix to your requirements, if that helps some.

I just tried to calibrate my thermometer and they all was way off each one was way different. So i guess i need to retest them again but ran out of ice. Now i am waiting on ice to freeze ( i guess it would be water to freeze) LOL Oh i really dislike waiting on things like this.

Wanted to start a topic discussion:

How do you calibrate?

I honest just use 5 different types of thermometers. And see how they measure a the same spot. All but one of mine are very very close thus concluding they are correct. For the hygrometers, I find them all over the place. I use the wet salt method for them.

Mine are all different types as well. Right now I have them sitting by my furnace thermostat and see what they all will say.

RE: STOLEN LAVENDER ORPINGTON CHICKENS I am so glad that jchny2000 shared that craigslist posting about the stolen lavender orpingtons! This is a great opportunity for our Indiana group to help. I made a flyer based on the craigslist information that I made into a pdf so that it can be printed on home printers in a better resolution. (I just noticed that I can't add a pdf on this site, so a made a higher resolution jpeg.) I also made a lower resolution web version jpeg for posting on Facebook, websites, etc. I texted the number on craigslist and asked permission to post all of this, and I told her about our Indiana thread and gave her the link. I checked out where Cambellsburg, IN is, and it's near several of our members including Columbus and Paoli. It's not too far from Louisville, so I am emailing a flyer to my sister who lives there to spread the word. No telling where someone might take the flock to be sold or if they keep them, but since they are a more unusual breed, maybe that will be beneficial in people noticing them. If we all --no matter your location in the State-- print out a few flyers and post them at feed or pet stores, auction places, public places-- wherever you think would be a good place, maybe we can help find them. Another plus if we all "flock together" is to show thieves that we aren't going to put up and shut up--- we are going to notify as many people as we can. Let's make this "go viral" and catch these vile thieves!!

I think this is a great idea. I've saved the jpg to post on my FB page and send to my inlaws in Corydon, IN.
