I know exactly what you need to complete your farm and make it more exciting! (the fainting) haha I was just looking on craigslist Indy and saw this ad:Hey everyone, still looking for a doe or doeling goat. I just want a milker, she will be a pet, and spoiled rotten. Nubian, LaMancha,Oberhasli etc don't care. I just want friendly & calm. Papers aren't necessary. Please PM if you have one available!
To Kiniska, Welcome to the Indiana Thread, and yes, please post flyers in your area and add info to your FB or any other method of getting the word out.
To Jchny2000: Do you know if there is another good location to post the flyer on the general BYC site so others can see it? Besides Louisville, other Kentucky cities like Henderson and Owensboro aren't that far away if the thieves wanted to sell them where they think people might not be looking for them. I'm no expert on crimes like this, but it seems like it would have to be professionals who knew they wanted a certain breed and knew how to quietly remove 10 hens and 2 roosters. It's just so bizarre.
My daughter, Meredith, who loved your pigs so much will probably sneak over there and set them free! haha I won't tell her about the upcoming murder. : - )Hehe, yep, I have a hog that will be going to freezer camp soon, and i keep saying "soon"! He is my first one, and its going to be hard to see him go. They act like a dog! My main flock, I couldn't do it, I have had them since last year. If I keep the mindset from day one who are for the freezer, I do ok on meat birds. We processed 21 last fall, went pretty quick, They were all Cornish cross meaties, not a normal chicken by any meansThey are eating machines, don't fall in the coop, you may not make it out alive!![]()

No, bwindell, don't even ask me to drive your guineas across Indiana to relocate elsewhere-- geese are one thing, but your guineas sound scary. I think I'd rather have ticks! haha (To the thread members, I recently had to drive to Indy and Bloomington, so I gave a ride to jchny2000's two very nice well behaved Chinese geese so they could relocate at bwindell's farm to cheer up her lonely gander.)I need some help.. I have 6 guineas, 2 males, 4 females. Starting about 3 weeks ago, they started to become very aggressive towards my chickens. Yesterday I was working out in the yard, when one of them took off after my little hen that was still recuperating from a dog attack. He actually had her down on the ground and was tearing into her. The rest of the guineas were all running to join in on the attack and if I had not gotten to her first, I am sure they would have killed her. I have one rooster who has had his tail completely torn out. I thought it was from the same dog attack as the hen, but now I'm not so sure. I witnessed a guinea go after one of my other hens when they were all scratching for corn I had thrown, he/she actually tore out a chunk of feathers from a hen.
I've was reading a thread on BYC about this same problem. It seems you really can't have guineas and chickens together? Or if you do, they need to be all female or all male, but not both? So I guess, my next question is.. does anyone want 2 males? I hate to kill them, but I cannot have them killing my chickens. I bought the guineas to use as tick control so I don't want to get rid of all of them if I can keep from it.
Thanks!
