Welcome to RockyWood who's from the west side of Evansville! I'm from E'ville's far north side. At this moment I am in Bloomington visiting by daughter. She mentioned that there have been a lot of hawk attacks on crows around campus, and that the hawks leave discarded crow sections lying around (how scenic!)
Cluck Acres- What a relief to finally know who the predators are! And you should post your hero rooster's photo. I like the idea of stringing the flag pennants like you see at car dealerships. Ha. Just put a few used cars out, too, and you could honk the horns as an additional warning! I bet your wife would love it-- how is she getting along now?
Animal lover-- I can identify your birds' combs as "rose combs." That's all I know-- except they sure are cute!
Speaking of cute, nice b-day chick, AATH
Vickichicki- keeping my fingers crossed for a successful hatch!

The best way to introduce new chickens to an existing flock is to do it slowly. Our new birds are ready to go outside to the coop at 6 weeks of age. They stay in an isolated area of the coop where they can see the flock and get acquainted. After two weeks they can join the flock! If you don't have the space or an area to isolate then you can introduce birds while you feed treats and hope for the best. A pecking order will be established in the group. Hope this helps!whats the best way to introduce new chickens? sence im getting a breeding pair of chickens i dont want any fights going on. so whats the best way?
