INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Something got ahold of my Hero Rooster ( Appenzeller) while we was in hospital. He is alright but when we got home he had blood all over his back and missing lots of tail feathers. He must of be protecting the flock again. He was the only one injured and all other chickens are accounted for i believe.

Appenzeller, the Hero Rooster, is a tough guy who earned the Golden Feather of Valor Medal in addition to a Gold Medal for fighting off a red tailed hawk! (yes, I need to get a life- haha)

If I spent as much time, effort, and care at work as much as I did on this chicken coop, I'd probably have a lot more money!!

I should add finish my "new coop". My other two coops and temporary coop/pens are all occupied. :0) The new 10x20 Coop will have 9 pens in it (doing it two story style inside seeing as silkies don't need 7ft high ceilings) and I will be able to better separate my silkies, showgirls and cochins out for breeding projects. He has been working on it slowly....... for two and a half months.

Hopefully we will have it finished by the end of the weekend. I will post pics when it is done.
Yes we want pics. Happily waiting for them!

We don't name our fryers. These are our layers & pets. We never name our fryers, steer, hogs, rabbits, & Boer goats. I have a tender spot even though I've been raised all my life on a farm. Lol So if I name them they're either pet or have another purpose besides meat. 2 of my kids can name & play with them then eat them, but my oldest is an animal lover so much so he can't & hates living on a farm.

Has anyone heard of putting red pepper flakes in with feed? I seen some post on byc that people do this and it helps them lay better. Im not sure if it would work and if its even healthy for them. You wont have to pepper your eggs anymore for breakfast.
