INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Quote: I have to say I agree with this. I had 3 quit around day 18. It was saddening.

The building itself is 10x20 but we lost a little interior space by insulating the walls and ceiling. The middle pen will be 4'x5'x7' as we will have LF SL Polish in it and they are pretty tall and to each side there will be 3/4" plywood floor at 3ft to give me two 4'x5'x3' pens on the bottom (for my silkies and showgirls who don't really roost) and two 4'x5'x'4 pens on the top (for my other bantams and CCL who like to roost) for a total of 9 pens. Each will have it's own pop door and run and I have a 4.5' space in front of the pens (the 20' length of the coop for broody cages, brooders, feed bins etc.) My DH wired it for electric, put in a light and insulated the walls and ceiling before we put up the pen walls. There will also be plywood across the top two pens on each side for storing my extra chick feeders, waterers and other brooding supplies. There is talk of putting an automatic door opener in but only if we can rig a pulley system that will open all 9 doors on one motor/timer. Can't wrap my head around actually managing that though. We travel for long weekends throughout the year and are hoping this set up will make it easier on our neighbor (who cares for the chickens while we are gone) and for the rest of us daily. I traded my Christmas, Birthday, Valentine's and 16th Anniversary gifts (and then some...lol) for this beauty. Every time the DH asked me what I wanted for an occasion, I just said, "Nothing babe...just put it toward my big coop.". He finally did!

I feel truly spoiled to finally get my "big coop" and my DH will be super happy to get all of the brooders out of the garage!

I would love to see the plans for this coop. It sounds like something I could turn into a dream coop for me. Not that we would be building it this year but I like to plan and dream.
If you don't want to post the plans, maybe you could post 15 pictures or so showing the outside and inside setups. Your coop looks fantastic.

So many of you post good pics of your chickens--mine never pose as I want them to. Anyhow, here are pics of my white polish hen (reserve continental at Bloomington Saturday--brag, brag  ) and a WCB bantam pair. The WCB pullet was reserve AOCCL; meant a lot to me because I lost her mother, my favorite, about 2 weeks ago.
Love them!

Ok.
#1: I have 2 Roos that need good homes. *BCM/Silkie mix smooth feathering; One Blue/Copper the other Black/Copper; both are very small* I keep telling myself I'm going to make dinner of the blue one; but can't get myself to do it..the other is WAY too sweet to even think about eating Both hatched out in November .. but really they need to go! Any takers? I've tried before without luck to find them homes; I didn't take them to the B-town show because it was my first and had no idea how to even go about bringing any for sale... I also have 5 chicks that are NN w/out the NN gene; also very sweet and were hatched 3/3/2013. Anyone interested??

#2: I now have 6 black cochin bantam fertile eggs that I was hoping to see her decide to go broody but she isn't and the end of this week will be the 13th day from the start. So..I do not have an incubator and was thinking if anyone here is serious about wanting some I would sell or ask that you hatch and I will pay a fee or split them... whatever anyone wants to work out. She is under a frizzled black cochin bantam roo...both are wonderful type and personalities to boot.

PM me and I will send pics of any of them if interested.
