INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

You made me laugh my butt off reading your post!! I haven't eaten chicken since I got my girls just over 2 wks ago. I even have a hard time eating the eggs (not cooking them). They are just so pretty and they worked so hard to give them to me and I take such delight in collecting them lol! We want a hobby farm eventually and my husband wants to butcher our own meat but I absolutely know there is no way I can eat my own animals. My husband hunts and fishes and I feel bad for the deer and fish for pete sakes. He thinks I'm crazy I just tell him "Yes I know that's what happens to the animals to get the meat from the store but I'd prefer not to see its cute little face before I attempt to eat it. I fear I'm well on my way to vegetarianism and I'm planning a large garden! Hehehehe :)
It's amazing how much more we appreciate our food when we raise it ourselves!

Cluck-we passed each other in the Orschelns parking lot today. I was pulling out while you were pulling in. Did you get anything ;) I'm so tempted by those geese! They are getting huge.

I'm happy to have made you smile. I have always been a little weird with meat. We are starting a green house this year and will be doing some canning. I think I am good with eggs milk and nuts and beans for protein. I do occasionally eat fish, but going fishing makes me feel bad. I like to fish, until I catch one, it immediately gets thrown back in with an apology, and I feel badly for the rest of the day. I still have a fear of cracking open a partially developed egg. I think we need a support group. lol I let an ant out of my house the other day, Ridiculous.

I know what you mean--I haven't even got my chickens yet and I'm having a harder time eating chicken and eggs from the regular store. We went to the meat market today and got "fresh" chicken but had to get regular eggs and it was really hard! I even asked the lady at the checkout if they get farm eggs- a no go :(

I can only imagine what its going to be like once we get our chicks...
