They do, don't they? That's what everyone said before we got our chickens, but the really do grow fast. Ours are 9 weeks old now, looks to me like they could easily lay some eggs but we are not expecting any until around August 1st.

Chickens and the coop are looking good. The coop build takes longer than you think, eh? And costs more $$$, right? I thought with our pallets that our build would be around $200-400, and we've saved most of the reciepts. The envelope is pretty thick, I don't have the nerve to add them up yet. Probably around $1100! That first 2 eggs will be $550 each! At least we are getting entertained now the the whole build is 98% complete. It's nice to be able to open the pop door and let them roam thier run, and then with some supervised free ranging in the back. Why do they love the bushes so much??? I have to send my 8 y. o. son in there to flush them out. Most of ours are too skittish to let us easily approach them, your ee story below is funny. Freezing then taking off! We are first time chickeners also.
Forgot to add that the larger ones are 14 weeks and the smaller girls are 10 weeks. I have one ee that stops and does a weird thing when I pet her. She drops her shoulders and raises her tail and freezes, just stays like that for a bit, then takes off. What's that all about? Also I have two BA whose combs have shot up and turned red this week could those be roo's? Yes, I'm new to chickens. Blatantly so lol, I feel like at this point I should know this. But then they do something new and I feel like a noob!
Thanks for the help.
