But I wish you luck in finding a home for your roo... Did you advertise on CL?? Would you be okay if he made someone a meal - if so and you state that, he'll be easier to place...

All the ones ive ever helped with "starter holes" never finish. Yes they alkiw the bird to get oxygen but if you put a hole too early its just going to cause the Iinsuide to dry out and chick become stuck. I have find that it is much easier to let them be and if they make it out they do if not thats life. Only time I help is if my humidity messes up and they are obviously stuck.

The egg will not really get a hole. it will look more like it is being cut in half from the inside with a breadknife. Then about 30 minutes to an hour before the chick is free of the egg, it falls open like an egg that was cracked on the edge of a frying pan.

If you think the egg is taking too long and drying out you can wrap half of it in a paper towel (not the air hole part). But it is best to let it be. helping the chick out does not lead to good outcomes the majority of the time.

Can you hear it working on the shell or making any noise? I have 4 out 2 more pipping and the last 5 in the bator are al make noise on the shell. I opened the bator to make sure.
