INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Mother2hens - Rhode island red. None of my other girls are big enough to do the deed and so far every time I have tried to cross my Rhode island rooster and my wyandotte hen rose, it has failed horribly. The egg broke early this time and the last two were duds. I can't figure out why.

Anyway, still waiting on the 4th chick. He has been half way hatched for 13 hours now and I'm starting to worry. Meh

Got that right!   Perfect day today, can't  ask for any better!   Especially after we found our lost girl today.
you found her? That's amazing!! I currently have a little 12 wk old light Brahma that's MIA. Maybe she will turn up too. I sure hope so because if not it means my fox/coyote/dog problem is back. :/. Someone was coming to pick up my little Sebright roo this evening and I got all emotional and cancelled over it. I'm losing it!!

Okie dokie. All done now. Cowlick Charlie, Frankie, Harley, and finally Emery. Had to save Emery at the end because his mommy pooped on his half hatched egg and he couldn't breathe but all is well now. Yay nap time!

Sounds more like illness than injury to me but I hope I'm wrong. I really hope she improves. Have u checked the emergency forum? I got some good advice there when my bantam babies were sick this spring.

I am sorry to hear that. We are at 64 birds. It does get expensive for sure. I am not sure I can take any off your hands, but I have some friends who might be able.
Please feel free to PM me and I can see how I can help. Leaving on Sunday so would need to be before then.
Have fun on your trip. Our faverolles is doing ok, she is one timid bird. We are keeping her isolated so the flock can get to know her better. She got lost today, but we found her 5 hours later. Hiding from all her jerk flock mates. They pick on her too much!

Yes we did. She was over/thru the fence in our backyard, hiding from all the bullies in our flock. The bullies are too big to get thru the fence, but our new favorelles can still get thru. She is about 2 weeks younger than the others, but the smallest anyway and will probably remain that way. She is the sweetest tho, very talkative.

I hope you end up finding your Brahma, how long has she been missing?

We saw 3 red tailed hawks flying this afternoon. They better stay in the air around here. Last year they had a nest in our backyard, and it was cool. This year, not cool!!!!!

just noticed when I got home from work today at 4. She's established in the little flock that I bought her with but no where to be found. I'm pretty sure she is gone. I overbought this year because I figured I'd lose a few but still stinks.
