INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Anyone have any ideals what this may be????

Dogs woke me at 2am to go out and pody, this is what I saw in my back pasture. I kept looking at it and it just stayed so I went in got the camera and took this, if you look bottom right of center you will see 2 little dots too...... it kinda freaked me out a little. in the pic it is small but remember it was at the back of my back pasture of 2 ac's. It was huge!!!! If it wernt for being 2 in the morning I would think sun coming up... but in the wrong place. it was at the west side of property.
At first impression, it looks like windows on the cab of a truck (looking toward the back windows). With a flat bed or pickup type bed. 2 tail lights and right under the left one a place for the license plate or possibly a mud flap. Possibly even large farm truck cab sized.

Is it possible for a vehicle to be back there? Teenagers "out" for the night?

ETA: send me a pm and I'll give you my email address. If you send me the photo, I'll mess with the exposure in photoshop and see if I can see any more details. Sometimes you can make things out that way that you can't see in the original photo.

ok fellow Hoosier BYC'ers, BAD NEWS........ CHICKEN MATH HAS STRUCK AGAIN(dun dun duunnnnn!)

But, the good news it's not too,too bad. I went to Orschlens today in Greenfield(this is closest and they are super friendly!) and i knew they would have chicks. It was no surprise that the bin labeled as "araucana"(really we all know it's EEs) was empty. So.....that left me with RIR,BO, or BR(this one has been on my mind a lot lately). To make a long story short, I ended up with 2 BRs. They are so tiny compared to my BLRW when i brought them home. They are looking like giants now and their colors are starting to come in!!! Oh i'm so excited to see them feather out!!
My older babies are growing fast!! They are one week old now!!!

Starting to really love their colors!!! I'm thinking the one in the back might be a splash maybe!?!??!?! It has whiter tips w/the red
the new babies!!! Very tired i think
And this is a new free standing roosting bar that i bought for my girls while i was there and they're already on it!
this was only $5.99 and expertly hidden on the top shelf with the coops they have for sale. i have never seen these before, otherwise i would have bought them sooner!!!
So cute!!!

haven't seen those roosting bar, would be neat, I use sticks from the yard.

Ok so out of 27, we had 3 DOA, lost one yesterday, and spent the day helping three others. I just went and checked on the three and one had passed and another is really weak. Ive been syringeing sugar water and ACV water. This morning I even softened up some crumbles fir them but they weren't interested. I'm going to run into tiwn and see if I can find some baby parrot food to offer as well. Does anyone else have any ideas I can use? The rest if them are running and jumping around the brooder and figuring out the pecking order, its just the smallest three that are having the hardest time.
Sorry you lost some of your little ones

I left my outdoor gang out of the pen t forage today. Left 14 out at 2:15 today, went out an hr ago t close em in...only 13 came back!!! One of my 7 mo old Isa Browns didn't come home. Grrrrrrr hunted everywhere I can think of and couldn't find her. She is one of my wonderers so she probably just walked away and can't find her way home. Hoping she's by th coop in the morning.
I used to have a hen that did that same thing had to go get her every night... lol

Andrew Brake with Nap Town Chickens, an advocacy organization for urban chicken farming in Indianapolis, delivers the coop with its three hens, which cost $1,200. This included the feeders, water bowls, bedding and feed.

I spoke with Andrew with Naptown Chickens today about his coops. He states before he started making his own he used to buy from Mark. So his is basically the same coop with some modifications for better security, durability and easier to move by one person. He's selling his coop with run (without all the start up stuff) for $650. It's still more than what I want to pay, but ordered one anyway. He's going to deliver it (free) in a couple of weeks.

A picture of my GLW baby, I have 6, might be selling some.... aren't they cute though
They are precious little things! Usually they are super friendly chicks too.

Hoping she turns up :( My GLW Spike always is the last one to go in, I usually have to go get her, stinker.
She showed up at 1130 last night. My DH heard something hitting the window in the den, when I went to see what it was...lol she was jumping at the window! I went out n grabbed her, before she hurt herself, which was a bad idea, she'd bn sprayed by a skunk!!! Thank goodness for tomato juice!!!!

ok I got my talk out, thank you.

now got up this morning and turned the Silkies light on for them to start the day and within 30 sec. the Blue or gray, starting making a very horse kind of sound and would flap it's wings almost like a rooster crowing.... was it a attempt to CROW????
Would be great if it was cause I am hoping this one is a roo and the buff one is a pullet. So now as long as the other don't crow I be good!!!!

BUTT they are only 8 weeks old. Is it common for them to start that so young?????

It is really weird! Kinda reminds me of the heat lamp glow.

Only other thought is to separate the weak, put them on electrolytes and maybe hardboiled chopped egg, .

Thanks, think I am going to get this stuff tomorrow if we get back to town early enough.
Running over to visit inlaws in Richmond.
I noticed the mud is about an inch down, the rest is still froze solid. Wanted to start setting posts to increase the pasture.
Thats not gonna happen yet, gave up driving posts pretty quick

DH swears he will plow some rows for me. I really want to get our fruit trees started. and the nut trees!
Still discussing where to put what, pecans grow pretty big!
Most excited about the pawpaws, heard about them several times and have never ate them.
My DW makes her own laundry soap. It's very similar to yours. I'm in need of this snow to be gone! My new 10x10 coop was supposed to be built by now. But where it's going to stand there is still 3' of snow drifts! I hope by the end of this week it's gone!!! Spring can't get here fast enough.
Thanks, lot of people are doing it, seeing it on facebook a lot too.
We still have a few big snow piles here, ugh. Muddy mess.

I got pics of Ashes 6 babies today. They are growing fast!
Oh my too many cuties!!! I have to stop looking, I have no room left

I do occasionally hear of one starting that soon.. could be!

Maggie hatched 7 chicks! Of the 9 eggs, 2 were duds. We were gone most of the day today. When we got home she had moved them all out of the nest box and onto the ground. There are 3 buff colored chicks, one with chipmunk-y marks & 4 dark ones (black, charcoal, reddish brown). Couldn't quite get good pics of all of them, hopefully tomorrow I can after my camera recharges!

Don't know which roo is the dad. This is Orville, the lemon cuckoo/lavender cross orpington I got from Brad. Yes, he and my other roo are wearing aprons. We had a couple extra & figured we might as well put them on the boys. They haven't minded being dressed up one bit! Orville's coloring reminds me of a gold laced wyandotte. He's a very handsome boy (although starting to challenge me when I go in the coop -- grrrrr).

This is my roo lavender -- yes, that's what I call him. I never figured out another name for him. He's had tail issues ever since he was little...as in only having 1 or 2 tail feathers that ever came in! He's still a nice looking guy, although smaller than Orville and certainly not the one in charge.

And these are our baby bunnies. They will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and are such little fatties! If you think it's hard taking a picture of chicks, try baby bunnies who are out to move around in a big space for the first time. I have a whole pile of blurry shots!!

They definitely have the large Silver Fox muzzle. We're still trying to figure out their coloring as it changes almost every day. The mom is a blue Silver Fox and the dad a white New Zealand.
Nooooooooo, can't do rabbits yet, but they are just soo cute!!!
I love the lil jump starts they do, lil jumping beans
