"sitting at home in their underwear, covered in cheetos dust.."To the new peeps with thread issues, we have all dealt with it, and it does suck.![]()
I will tell you though, that more often than not, the people on here are very nice. I have found that the trick is to lurk around the threads you are interested in for awhile.Read individual posts and get a feel for personalities. Find someone who has been on here for a long time, who seems nice and helpful, and private message them a question.
If you can find a few people, who are knowledgeable, and nice, you can start posting on the threads and have conversations with the nice ones. That way if some idiots come on being all full of themselves, you can ignore it, and you will see they don't get a whole lot of responses from the more experienced breeders/posters.![]()
I had some bad experiences when I first signed on BYC.I didn't know anything, and just wanted advice from people in the know. I got a lot of responses that were blatantly trying to make me feel dumb. Keyboard warriors, who think they can say whatever they want to you about your birds because you are online and not face to face.
So I sought out the nice ones, who knew what they were talking about. Real breeders, who have the nicest birds, don't need to be rude to get their point across. They have nothing to prove, because they already have the right way by learning like the rest of us, not by berating newbies and acting cocky and thinking they are the end all of knowledge of poultry.
You have to be a bit thick skinned
and realize these people are probably sitting at home in their underwear, covered in cheetos dust
with no real friends to speak of, because they are mean lonely people. They are the minority.![]()
The Indiana thread is awesome, and I think a lot of these other breed and state threads could learn a lot from it and the wonderful people on it.![]()
