INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I've been lucky that I haven't had much reason to ask questions in other threads. I lurked on and off at these boards for years and then when I finally ordered my chicks I posted here, got to know everyone...they have been every bit as helpful or more than I could have expected from the threads "at large."

Considering BYC is nearing 2 zillion members, I guess it's going to have its share of trolls!

This board is so active, though, because it is so friendly. I just love it.

I keep inviting my local friends w/ chickens to join, but so far I don't think they've made it here. One of them is on BYC but she hasn't migrated to the Indiana board yet. I am sure I will get her here eventually. She would be a perfect fit.

They say on their home page. I don't see why they wouldn't. Unless they are back ordered

We raise purebred Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Welsummers, Lavender Orpingtons, Silkies and have Frizzles of the Buff Orpingtons along with Black Sex Links.
Can you tell I was born blonde?

Sometimes, I swear...my mind...gone, baby, gone.

So, I asked DH last night if we should just go ahead and get a Frizzle Orp chick when our bantams come in May, and he said "But then we won't have enough laps for everyone." Because we are getting six chicks and there are six of us in the family.

I really hope all 6 of my chicks make it, because heaven knows I paid dearly for them from MPC, but now we know if one doesn't...I will have to get a frizzle orp as a replacement "lap filler."

Lol, so was I. They way they word there frizzle page it sounds like they have frizzle Cochins, orps, and various other breeds. You should just get 6 more. Then everyone will have one for each leg and everyone will be happy lol

You know, I DID realize my coop has room for four more birds, after I miscalc'd the sq ft originally...

He would kill me, though. As much I want one of those pretty babies (or two or however many...) I better wait and make sure we don't royally screw up this whole chicken thing.

I do wonder how big their frizzle Orpingtons get. Did you catch whether they were LF or bantam?

The rich peeps who purchased it from our local feed stores catalog (sight unseen) were dissatisfied with it after it arrived. I happened t b there when they went in to pick it up on Saturday. The feed store employees had assembled it for them and I was saying how it would b nice for a grow out pen for my chicks.
When I was told it was sold, I told them it didn't matter because I wouldn't b able to afford something like that anyway. The owners decided to go back t the catalogs, found a much larger one t purchase and told the stores owner to give it to that nice lady who was admiring it...lol that would be ME! Yippee!!! Yappee!!! Yahooo ooo eee! THANK YOU RICH PEOPLE (who have enough money to share with others!!!) my bitties will b enjoying it as soon as I can find a pickup truck to get it home.

It's great to hear about both of these things -- we need to keep posting all of our positives so all the struggles don't seem so overwhelming! Kinda coincidentally, but I keep having a line from Charlie Bucket's "Think Positive" song from the Willy Wonka musical (which ended yesterday & was a great show!) running through my head, "Whenever I'm feeling down & out & don't know what to do, I think positive."

On a greatly positive note, northern Indiana should hit 50 degrees tomorrow!! I took the advice of letting my broody hen hatch her babies out in the cold barn & they've done great, even with the cold this past week, but I'm sure they're going to love the warmer weather that's finally coming.
