And one of the eggs has pipped! Hopefully we will have a hatchling soon! If so, it will be my very first turkey pout hatched myself. Of course the other 48 turkey eggs in the incubator are cooking along and hopefully will follow right behind.Quote:Quote:

So 2/3 are now in lockdown. Hatch is hoped for Easter Sunday!hatching vibes! I had a quitter too. I do have 1 poult so far, and she is glued to the nest hoping for 2 more!![]()
AND...I have not one, but two broody turkey hens sharing the nest. Going to build another nest tomorrow to hopefully get the other hens to lay in so we don't mix eggs.

I went down and swapped eggs with @ellymayRans today. My CCL for her BCM. What gorgeous big brown eggs. She has beautiful chickens and peafowl. I can't wait to see what her eggs hatch out to.
I went home and set half of them under my broody phoenix hen. She pecked at me when I was putting the eggs around her, then got busy tucking them under herself. It was only half because that was all she could fit!![]()
I set the others in my incubator along with the latest batch of Turkey eggs. The hatching continues!
Exciting!
Its possible she was just sleepy. Hope she is ok tomorrow, if not post whats going on.kabhyper, bradselig, jchny, and silkie people ~ My son and his GF were over for the evening and as it started getting dark, my son said that something was wrong with my Splash Silkie. She frequently shook her head and at times her head was leaning forward a little like she was going to fall asleep. Of course, I panicked and brought her in, held her close and gave her some Sav-A-Chick electrolytes. I tried looking at her head to see if I saw any mites or anything, but I swear, it is so hard to see anything through Silkie fluff! She's always been kind of a loner and the most nervous one of the Silkies (I think my former Eng. Orp roo who always thought the sky was falling somewhat affected the Silkies natural easy-going nature. lol). So, I figured that I was probably stressing her more by holding her, so I brought her out and put her in the part of the coop where she, the other two silkies, and their surrogate mom, my Eng Orp Splash pullet had gathered for bed. Then it occurred to me that maybe the Splash Silkie was just tired!!! Duh. Do they shake their heads when they're tired, like they're trying to stay awake until they go in the coop for the night? Could that be a sign of something else?
