Note that it doesn't say "With Iron" on the box. The aded iron should not be used with the chicks.
And on the back it usually list no iron in small text

Thank you so much! I was just going to ask if the box that doesn't say iron on it is the one to use. Got an odd shopping list today-liver, infant poly-vi-sol and food for dinner! :)

Well got a little bit of rain last night, so was able to roll the yard and mow today. Such a relief to actually accomplish something! Lol. Now off to parents house to fix my mower (all last year I could only turn right. I thought i fixed it, but shaft on gear was warn down and bushings didn't last). Let just say it made it fun mowing lol. Ohh had two more laps to go on mowing and rolling and of course the belt breaks on my parents mower! So I'll have to fix that now too lol.

Hopefully it won't take long to finish and can get back home to make some quick coops and possibly fence in two more runs. I've been having to bring in the black/blue showgirls every night as they only have a cardboard box on their pen to allow them to get out of the sun and wind if they'd like. Too afraid to leave them in that over night lol. Plus my Cochin girls I've been raising up are getting huge! They need to go outside! Then I can get all the chicks out to the garage once all cleaned out! So much to do, so little time! Lol

hey all I have Roo's for sale or trade for same breed hens/pullets or for Silkie hens/pullets (pq ) I don't show and I cant have all these Roosters.
Some I couldn't get by themselves they just were not being a very willing bunch today.

2 Welsummers 10 weeks old
2 Lt. Brahamas 10 weeks old
1 Lt. Brahama 8 weeks old
BJG 10 weeks old

the SLW Like the BJG I am unsure of, if I'm wrong please educate me, I based all this on feathers near the tail and lacing and combs. and I compared them to the pullets ( the plainer of the breed ) I know Most Roosters are brighter and more colorful and darker combs.
I will put them on HT next week if no one is interested. Thanks.
I'm not so sure you have as many boys as you think. One of the BJGs looks like a possible boy, and none of the SLWs that I see look like boys. I don't even see anything on the Brahmas that screams boys. If you had boys from any of them, I'd expect to see more wattle development by 8-10 weeks like you do on the wellies. Even with a pea or rose comb, the wattles get much bigger, much earlier on the boys.

The top pic does look more cuckoo to me than partridge. The second one looks like my partridge pullets though-they have the same pattern on the wing feathers and even some in the tail feathers. The partridge cockerels didn't have this and I've heard it can be a sex link thing but not 100% sure if that is true.
Woohoo! Make room for the gardening projects! :)

Woot! :)
The black silkie rooster is not on medicated feed, he is on layer pellets mixed with cracked corn (probably 10% corn/90% pellets).

Is this the stuff? Is it found in the baby aisle?

Thank you for posting! Will have to check it out! :)

Based off what I've seen for sale at TSC and that the top two photos look just like the pullets my cousin got, I'd say the top pic is of ISA Browns and the middle one is of black sex linked layers. Not sure on the bottom pic.
No iron!!!! VEry important it has to be without iron. The stores do have that.

Sorry I just realized it had already been answered, I just quoted and didnt read ahead.

But you are close.

DON'T GET THE KIND THAT SAYS "WITH IRON".

It is the right brand, but not WITH IRON
Please remind me again why the no iron. I don't use the droplets, but am curious that i can't recall why no iron for chickens.

Sounds like something I might be tempted to do.

I want one, but in the shape of a coop or breeding pen.

Just got back from EmilyOfIndianas. I am the proud owner of a black star roo. I know the say not to use them for breeding but I needed a roo and she was roo poor so we both came out happy. I think he will work fine once the the 2 EE's and the austolpe (sp) settle down and let him be. It will be interesting to see what kind of chicks they throw.

What size is your purple coop? :D

The "short" answer on the iron is that for those tiny little bodies, it's very easy to cause toxicity by feeding supplemental iron.

And...
I really wouldn't paint my house like that. It's just when someone says I CAN'T do something my mind would be trying to find a way to "make a point".

There is a Purple house over here in Hebron. It's quite noticeable ;)

Does anyone know why TSC only has Brown layers? The only White layers I can find locally are Leghorns. I've never had them because they are skiddish. I have Buff O's and RIR's.
