INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

They all look so serious

Oh they are. That Napoleon complex starts early!

Congrats, Kab on the chicks! I've been having some really good hatches too lately. Actually too many hatches lol. I'm getting over loaded with chicks again! Only issue is I want to keep them all.

I appreciate the wise words from everyone concerning roosters in the city, thank you all for sharing your experiences!

The only reason I'm considering keeping one is I may already have one.  Gray, my EE, could go either way at this point.  However, my other EE (I think someone said she's a tetra tint, but I don't know what that means - I'll go look it up!) had completely attached herself.  She's very protective.  If I'm handling Gray, she's right there watching.  When I was trying to work with his eye one day, she tried to get my hand a few times.  If I carry him around the yard, she follows on my heels.  In the coop she's never more than three feet away from him.

Do chickens ever mate for life?

Anyway, I'd hate to separate them.   So, if Gray turns out to be a roo, I'll try to keep him.  There are a lot of trains that go through here, the horns are pretty loud at my house.  And Rockville Road is two blocks away.  So, chances are no one may notice.

I'll let you know how it goes!

ETA after some looking around, the white-ish bird (Elsa) looks a lot more like a tetra tint than an easter egger.  Not that it matters - as long as she lays eggs, I don't much care what she is.

That other girl is an ee not a tetra tint.

Anyone have good links for wheels for a chicken tractor. it is 8*6, a bit heavy for no wheels. It would be great if the wheels where easy to attach and detach. We plan to make 3 of these pens and if we could use 1 set of wheels on moving day that would be nice.

If you built them on a lever type thing the way Andrew does and just attach them when you want them moved then take them off, I think that would work very well. Especially if you put the wheels about a third of the way down instead of at the end like most people do.

I was wondering if the non gmo feed is in crumbles? I didn't buy more of the organic feed i tried locally at agrarian as i found my hens wasted a lot of it and at that price it wasn't worth it( i also thought having feed on the ground was even more of an invite to have mice visit).

The non-gmo feed at RK was smaller than crumbles. It would work well for wet feed or fermented feed. I can see a lot of waste if it was feed dry in an hanging feeder.
