Thanks, I have BR so I can get sex linked from her with my RIR, I was just trying to think of a way to get the redstars. But really I need to stay devoted to my 4 pure breeds. I was thinking of what could I do with roosters on the days they will not be in the breeding pens. Since I need to keep at least 2 roosters for each breed that is 8 roosters. I'm not going to have enough breeding hens to prevent feather loss without rotating roosters out.

What's wrong with this chicks abdomen? It looks all swollen and its almost completely bare. It is one of the new chicks. I did not notice it yesterday. It is eating, drinking, and acting normal. Any help is appreciated.

THAT looks like ascites. You can try to drain it to see. 18-22 gauge needle, and you can just let it drain.

Blrw with a barred rock will produce blue and black sex links. Rir with slw will produce red sex links.


Aside from bresse and cornish x (ees don't count since dunno what they are) do uou have any other white hens?

The darker area feels hard to me. It's a Sussex chick.

Try sticking a q tip in its vent and see if you feel a blockage. Other than a warm bath and gentle massage or very gentle squeezing I don't know.

I agree. I wanted to try it myself. But I have far more than enough on my plate as is lol. I'm gonna need to build a pen for the chocolates if anyone thinks they'd want chicks. Otherwise I'm getting all pullets.
