INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Okay I think that I have gotten a copy of the Chicken Fest 2014 flyer sent to all the members on the members list. If you did not receive please let me know. If you received more than one I apologize.

That would be awesome. I'm about 4 miles south of North Judson. I hope I'm not too far out. Thank you.

I'm just south of ft Wayne outside Warren, Indiana. He's still fairly young I believe around 2 months old. I can double check with lonely if need be. Also there is someone posting on ft Wayne Craigslist in south Whitley who raises faverolles. Might look and see if they have extra Roos.

Hi, everyone. I'm looking for a few roos. I need a Cochin, a faverolle, and an easter egger. I have all hens and no roos. Can anyone local help me out?
I'm even farther south but I have 1 EE rooster available. I have a few other roos available too ~ a barred Rock, a couple Dark Barred Rocks they have the girl coloring but the boy feathers, and a buff brama. Currently all of these are smaller than a basketball.

I showed Dh the pictures of the hoop coops again last night. We won't have space for them. He did bring up a good question though. He wanted to know why he would put so much time into making one instead of converting a tarp shed from shelterlogic / coverit. Has anyone here looked into making a coop from the shelter logic sheds?

Yesterday was a horrible day. We left home early to get dirt for our raised beds. When we left we put the dogs in the fenced in area because of the chicks in the house. Our chickens and turkeys free range all day. When we got home the dogs were out, they had popped the latch to the gate. Three of our chickens were beyond saving and we had to put them down. We looked for hours for the other ones in the brush. The EE (Chicken Nugget) & NHR (Copper) hens and the NHR (Dick) rooster is what we lost. My Chicken Nugget was my favorite and most friendly. I felt so responsible for what happened. Granted Dick was completely mean it still was horrible to see him in so much pain.

Mother2Hens - thanks for the info. I got some stuff to use. I'll be keeping an eye on it!

For the two pics, I used Hipstamatic. It's an iphone photo app. I love it. It has a ton of filters.

Does anyone else have a gnat problem? They are driving me crazy! They're buzzing around the backyard nonstop and bothering the birds a lot. Problems never stop!

I am having a major mosquito issue. I'm sorry the gnats are bugging the birds and I'm sorry you are having issues with Chewie's eye. It might be a dust in the eye issue, it seems like a few people had chicks with that issue a few months ago. The roos look great!!!

ChickCrazed - Thanks. There are WAY more bugs/flies/ticks, etc. than last year. I'm going to start planting some herbs around the outside of the fencing. The boys are great. They have integrated with my girls really well. Ozzy has claimed one of the EE's as his own. Chewie tried getting her the other day and Ozzy flew over and got mad at him! They've been pretty fun.
