INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm kind of disappointed in the projected turnout for this years Chickenfest. I wanted to meet and get to know more of the peeps that are friends on this thread. If more people aren't going to be coming I'm seriously thinking about canceling my reservations. If I just wanted to go camping there are lots of places here in WV I could go and I wouldn't have t pay as much for gas. Hoping more people confirm attendance this week.please!!!!
Janet so glad you got good news!!!!

Yeah, me, too. I do understand, though, that some people just can't make it. I will definitely be there unless something totally catastrophic happens between now and then. I'm not sure if I RSVP'd or not, though..? I would help with the shirts as well, but I don't have any nice programs to make graphics from, nor do I have much of an artistic talent in that regard anyway. :/ But I subscribed to the other thread, so I'll be sure to give any critiquing help I can with the designs. :)

And agree, glad to hear some good news from you, jchny! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing! :)

I would LOVE to attend, but it just isn't in the cards for me this year for a few reasons

Yeeeeeehaw!
Dads been moved to extended care and doing great! He is recovering pretty well for being 80, still a long ways to go.
I want to welcome any new members to our thread, and please jump right in.
I will finally be back on here daily since we are not driving to indy every day. Really have missed you all!
I have missed a LOT of posts, and will still go back and read what I missed. Hope to see everyone at chickenfest next month!
Great news about your dad. We have missed you as well. Hope that you are taking care of yourself.

Greeting Hoosiers! Our Blue Australorp was taken by a raccoon last month up at our farm in Eaton, who broke in through the siding. I was looking to find another Blue Australorp, since it was the favorite, and named "Eggy," by my 8 year old middle son, who is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant at Riley to battle his Leukemia. He and I would video chat in the morning to let the chickens out and look for eggs. It helps him stay connected to home while in the hospital for 7 weeks. He always wanted to know how Eggy was doing! I still haven't broke the news to him! And, am hoping to find another Blue Australorp, "Eggy II," to add to the flock. I'm hoping my fellow Hoosiers might have suggestions?

Welcome! The only place I have ever seen Blue Australorp in the states is Hall Family Farm. I am sure that there are other places. Maybe try the buy, sell and trade section of BYC. Hope that you find them. Best wishes and prayers for you and your son.

I hope that you don't decide to cancel. I am looking forward to meeting you, as well as other fellow Indiana BYCer's. I totally understand if you do though, especially with the price of gas now.

If anyone wants legbar, silkie, showgirl, tolbunt polish, or lavender/split for lavender barred bantam cochin eggs, let me know. They are all laying pretty good.
I'm interested in silkies, what colors do you have for sale? I'm looking for a blue or splash roo and splash chicks.

Yes I may be I have a hen that is broody and what she is sitting on isn't fertile. I could do some more in my bator, it holds 6. Can u pm me the prices?

Hi everyone. I have a RIR roo, 18 weeks old who needs re-homed. I put a post in the buy/sell forum but wanted to offer him here, for free. If you're not interested in adding him to your flock but would like as a meat bird, I'm ok with that. I wish I could keep him but my husband is adamant he's got to go. I can deliver him within a reasonable distance from the Indy area too.
I would take him as a meat bird but I'm really really giving some hard thought to having a closed flock. I know we will be processing at least 2 more times before Winter sets in real good. I need to get with Racin.. to find out when he plans to do his fall processing to set up a date. He has a wonderful plucker. I'm thinking it would be worth a small fee to be able to rent his plucker or even process at his house.

Quote: We are going to try to make it. BUT I can't rsvp as things come up so often with the children it is hard to promise to be anywhere. Everything depends on both weather and children over here.

I do plan on getting a few group shirts though. If children sizes are offered and the design is toddler friendly I'll get a few of those too. I think a couple of the designs had comical chickens in them.
