INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

It's been a long time! Sorry ive disappeared, very busy, finally got the chickens banded for fair last night, got the layers paired, and our exhibition picked out, only got bit once, I have a faverolle that refuses to let me love her, lol,

Third
Third week in July
Our check in is next Thursday (and the kids are still finishing up projects..........which is funny, because EVERY year we say, "Next year will be different, next year we'll be done and ready way ahead of time with things like the rockets, etc" -- and then it becomes the same mad rush EVERY year

) and then dog and English horse showing over the weekend before the fair actually opens on Monday -- I am 99.9% sure that DS will do poultry next year, he has really gotten into this whole chicken thing with me, which I couldn't be happier about as we have never really had "our thing" before that we could share like DD and I do with the horses.

I know all about that whole, we will be prepared next year. Lol,

OUCH chew slower!

Think back. what was different yesterday. New free range area, feed, etc..I dont see any worm or parasites. Even 2 days ago?
Ugh, hear ya; Why I got my sportsman cabinet. No worries and everything hatches. Have heard a lot of good comment on the hovabator.
I would absolutely love to get a sportsman cabinet, but I don't have the money for that. I might keep one of the incubators I have no around to use as a hatcher.. Because I have no problem getting the humidity up in it. But I am worried about the temp situation again. If I would had egg turners and everybody would of just left my darn incubator alone, everything probably would of been fine. I am pretty sure my eggs are shot. No veining or anything. Anyways the hovabator just looks like it would work sooo much better for me, especially when I have to go away for a few days or something. Then all there is to worry about is humidity.

I'm really hoping to get a sportsman soon. I think I may end up selling my homemade cabinet to force me to slow down on hatching and to make me get one by spring. We will see though lol.

PS: This is a window box w/pyrex pans in it for wet feed.

Thinking of trying some dry in one of these boxes without the pyrex but I think it's too wide and they might be able to stand in it and scratch feed out :( It works perfect w/ the pyrex as those narrow it down enough that they aren't able to stand in it and it also keeps them from tipping if they try to stand on the edge.

Agreed, I bet they will waste a lot. Sure looks nice tho.
It's perfect with the pans in. No waste at all. I was using the glass because of ff and the high acid - didn't want to use plastic or metal for that. They work great for dry feed too...no wasting as it's just the right depth. Nothing gets out of those pans.

But...was thinking of trying an experiment without the glass pan inserts. I'm afraid the trough is wide enough without them that someone will stand sideways in there and start scratching dry feed all over the place and wasting. It may be worth it to purchase a few more of the glass pans. I have 3 of those window box troughs but only glass pans for one of them. Have been keeping my eye out at Good Will, etc. but so far have only found the old type pyrex loaf pans that don't have the lip around the top. That lip sits over the edge of the wooden trough perfectly so that 2 can sit side by side.
